I would like to ask some advice for prepping aluminum siding for a painter. I was thinking of spraying a siding cleaner with my 2750 psi power washer and then have another guy with me following with a scrub brush. We would then spray and rinse the soap off. Does this sound like a good way to do it? Can I just buy the siding cleaner at Lowes? Do you recommend different chemicals?
A few notes…there are some bushes around the home and the siding leaves a chalky finish when I rub it with my hand.
Thanks
That means the paint is oxidizing…You might want to try this Gutter Grenade 1 gallon - Pressure Washing Chemicals - Soaps and Chemicals
Thanks for the advice Larry. Do I need to use a brush along with the power washing? Do you know if Gutter Grenade will be harmful to plants and bushes around the house?
Thanks,
Mark
I wouldn’t touch it. Too many things to go wrong when you’re unsure of what you’re doing. Aluminum siding isn’t forgiving.
+1
Actually I’m not for certain that the siding is aluminum. It could be steel siding. I didn’t do the magnet test. If it were steel, does that make a difference? Is it easier to clean and less risky?
Thanks!
