Hey guys, so ive been asked to bid on a huge job in town. First off they want the parapet and all windows/frames and corners of the building, all deck railings and patio doors pressure washed. (we have mayflies here really really bad in the early summer and the building will be covered). Once that is done, they want the windows all cleaned. As far as the window cleaning pricing I have that in mind, no problem there. I will be renting a lift and I have taken that cost into account too. But as far as the pressure washing??? I will be renting a pressure washer. but what about the labor aspect. I will be doing this myself. So i need advice into pricing for pressure washing a job of this magnitude.
some pics, to give you all an idea of the building in question.
I believe you’ll make more money on the window cleaning side of this, for sure. Have you pressure washed something this large before? You may be able to the make your bid more attractive, less work, and more profitable for you if you sub the pressure washing out to a pressure washing company who owns a bucket truck or small lift… Just something to think about.
I’m a little confused on the power washing, they don’t want the side walls done? The power washing would be time consuming without a helper to drag hoses, brushes, etc… A lift will make it easier but this job could easily go south on you if you are inexperienced. Early on in my PW days I took on a big metal sided factory and warehouse. Bid too low, took way to long and lost my shirt. Not to mention, the countless evenings and weekends I was there power washing the place. Believe it or not, it took me a month working weekends and evenings because after one solid week of power washing, I had to get back to some regular customers during the day and try to finish that beast in the evenings. Be careful on this one bro.
well, 2 years ago it was a 2 man man crew that did this job. One on the outsides doing the powerwashing and the other on the insides doing windows for the residents that had requested it. Takes about 7-8 days straight. Then last year a local company decided to use a WFP on the whole thing, and (as I was told) did a horrible job. I’ve thought about sub-ing out the power washing aspect of things. as well. Right now just weighing out the pro’s and cons. And so far my price in mind for powerwashing is about half of the window cleaning. If anyone is curious and wants to help me out with this, PM me. (in case my competition bidding on this as well is on this forum)
