New release last night

Pretty much all of the users, we are anxious to keep adding more users for that very reason

not to play devils advocate here but in light of the recent instagram issue where instagram said that they own all the images that people are uploading to their servers and will/are selling them either without the customers knowing or sharing the profits…

Is there an option for your software that we can install it on our own servers so that no one but myself has access to our customers information?

I really like your software but I really love my customers too and I dont think transactions between me and my customer should be made public or worse possibly given/hacked into the hands of big corporations, marketers etc…

Come on dude, Curt’s not that type of guy. This is just designed to help you keep tabs on how your business is performing.

Thank you.

Is it possible to divulge a number? If it’s like 100 users, I couldn’t see it as real usable national data right now…I’m sure it’s more than that though.

Im wondering if there is a version/ license that we can install on our own without being tied into a national database.
could be another revenue of income for curt and a better option for those who are paranoid about privacy like myself.

you know…rent it for $30-180 a month as it looks like it is currently set up, versus buy a license for $1500 and have full ownership on our own website?

It is currently a little more than 100, but in the scheme of things, it’s about 100 times more info than anyone currently has and is growing much faster now with the new release.

I see what you’re saying.

The only thing is that our goal is to make life easier for companies who want a total solution that is constantly growing. There are several issues that conflict with our business model and the licensing plan:

 1. We are adding upgrades all of the time which would mean that none of those would come over… Yes we could make more money by selling those upgrades periodically, but it feels like it is cheating the business owner to do that.

 2. We are providing a fortune 500 tool (that would presumably cost much, much more than a small business could afford to build on their own), and relying on the economies of scale to make it affordable for individual companies. We rely on the quantity of the user base to fund the project and all of the subsequent upgrades.

 3. Server administration would be your new job. It would seem like an app like this could be hosted on a regular server, but it actually doesn’t work that way. We are hosted on the Amazon cloud. To configure an app with the level of encryption, scalability of traffic, and complexity of data handling, we had to utilize a much more manually adaptable server. We had to consider this type of hosting as we built from the ground up this time with all of the new features. The server type we are using has been heavily integrated into the code. Which requires having a server administrator on hand 24/7.

 4. Security is built in at many levels of the app. So that it’s not a lonely experience. We knew that the data ResponsiBid would provide for individual business owners would be one of the crown jewels of the new version, so we built it in a way to protect business owners from the things you seem concerned about. In the End-User License Agreement, we promise to never sell or rent your personal information, and then we take every security measure possible to keep your data safe. We understand that you would want to protect your customer’s data at all costs, and that is one of the reasons we didn’t just build the app and then put it out as hurried as possible. We took security into consideration at every level… especially since it would make sense for us to allow users to integrate their authorize.net and other merchant accounts at some point to continue through the sales process.

I hope that makes sense. I hesitate to include this item into the post, but I feel like it’s probably appropriate:

I think people do not realize what goes into software from a time and money perspective. I have not taken any money out of ResponsiBid up to this point. Every dollar of revenue and investment has gone back into the business. I am blessed to have a window cleaning company that pays my bills and will allow me to spend 8+ hours per day focused on this project. I have been able to do that almost every working day since ResponsiBid was first released almost 2 years ago. A license to ResponsiBid to host on your own server with any powerful software would almost never be a 4 figure amount… and would definitely not be the case with ResponsiBid.

I only share that because I wanted to fully answer the question (which was a reasonable one), and hopefully that makes everything make perfect sense.

I will continue to eat, sleep, and focus on ResponsiBid because it becomes more and more apparent everyday that this is the reason I exist. I love what it has done for small business owners, and the connection it gives me to help empower those who cannot afford to build a technology system that would otherwise be a key part to them finding their own success.

Question any member of the BBB needs to follow their privacy policy one of the terms is the following:
Information Collection, Use, and Sharing
We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.

Would that be in violation using responsibid?

thanks

Interesting, Brian.

I’m not sure how it possibly could be. Any information that ResponsiBid collects for your company is your information.

But since you asked the question, I think you have a different interpretation. Would you mind expounding upon where you are coming from? Maybe like a scenario?

More of a technical question.

Does the software simply import for your use (responsi) the pricing of the job but names and other personal information stays locked up in my account? Responsibid no access?

When someone enters their information what access do you have? I’m not super worried but crazier things have happened…

Ok, I think I get it now… the BBB thing threw me.

So, I can see the stats of each account, and I can see all of the anonymous aggregated data.

However, in order to provide technical support I can login to your account and provide assistance, and in doing so, I can see your company’s data. As I mentioned in a post above, though, ResponsiBid is legally obligated to never sell or rent your personal information.

It was a trade off that we made in this iteration of ResponsiBid… Last version had no data tracking system because I never wanted anyone to think I had access to their data… especially local competitors (I have about 4 using it). But that was such a limiting way of thinking and would have totally damaged our ability to progress the system. Having reservations about people thinking I would steal their data caused me to legally bind myself to be held accountable, but took out the major hurdle of not storing the data. So we decided that in the interest of allowing the software to be able to grow into what it can be, we had to store data. And the upgrade mentioned in the OP is definitely one of those major benefits.

is there any other model out there in any other industry that you were inspired from on this aspect of data aggregation etc?

Since there isn’t really anything else out there in our industry, I have had to draw inspiration from many different sources, and I couldn’t necessarily cite any off the top of my head at the moment because of how it has sort of jelled in my head over time and become it’s own entity with it’s own life and future timeline.

I guess so far as numbers go, it’s going to get better and better-- but usually happens when I can get hyper-productive and my brain (and my development team) is consistently in the ā€œflowā€ā€¦

I can attest that as I have worked closely with Curt through the years I have seen that he is delivering a fortune 500 tool for business owners to be able to focus on those things that are most important in life by allowing their businesses to work for them in their absence.

When I worked for Apple Care for over a year I saw how they would do anything for their customers. I know that Curt would do even more than they did because he is in the business of changing lives.

Great point.
