I am a 21 year old college student looking to make my own money.
Me and a buddy are joining forces to help provide some excellent cleaning for all the dirty windows in our town. We have practiced on 2 houses so far but are ready to take it to the next level. Can’t keep doing it for free!
My window cleaning experience is almost non-existent but I’ve had jobs since I was 16 that taught me how to be professional and provide excellent customer service. I’m hoping my drive to make people happy with the job I do will outweigh my first couple houses as I get more experience and figure out a system that works for me.
I figure most of our first houses will be trial & error but practice makes perfect.
I have already come to this site for lots of help and plan on becoming more of a member as my experience grows.
I would really appreciate any input and can take all the constructive criticism you got.
Welcome Cody, you have come to the right place. You can learn alot by reading the threads and watching the videos. All aspects of running a business can be found here. Good luck.
I’ve learned a ton on this site so you’re in the right spot for sure. If you’re all about trial and error right now I’m assuming you have insurance right??
Good luck with everything.
I’m going to wait til I have some more money before thinking of insurance. I’m mostly just doing houses as a part time job unless I can turn this into something more full-time. My biggest expense so far was a ladder and now I’m ready to start paying it off. Thanks for the input Tom
Thanks llaczko. Yeah just to put it into perspective I’m planning on working about 5-10 houses to get a better feel for things. I’ve already done two and know that’s enough to prepare me. I don’t have money for insurance yet but made some fliers and small cards to hand out when I canvas next week. Me and my buddy will be matching in some white polos until we can get some shirts made. I didn’t realize how much money can go into this profession. I figured it was going to be cheap and easy to start but have found out there is a lot going on behind the scenes. The only thing I got going for me is I’m a 21 year old college student so I hope that will put most people at ease and I can start building a company from there.
Thanks for the hearty welcome from everyone and I really appreciate all the advice and input you guys have put into this site. It has made most of my worries that much smaller.
Hi Cody, welcome aboard! keep that enthusiasm going!! I hope you do well. What is your major in college? I have a son your age in his 2nd year at slippery rock, majoring in business. Good luck!
Thanks Sharen!
I’m majoring in business too. He’s a smart dude, business seems like one of the only majors that makes sense anymore. Sounds like you’ll have some extra smart help on your hands good for you!
was just wondering…just starting my window cleaning business…im 53yo…does having the WCRA get you unlimited marketing tools…say like if you wanted 1000 door hangers? and so on?..thanks for your input
