I am new (three weeks) in the window cleaning business; I will be very great for all the help I can get in this new business. My idea is to do residential and commercial. In addition, my big problem is a large window cleaning company already in the city of Charlotte, NC. They have 1000 residential customers and about 2000-store front. The competition is difficult but I am going door by door with flyers.
Best regards,
Bert

Welcome Bert. Don’t worry about competition. There is lots of glass around and probably more than your completion can keep up with. Just keep at it. Good luck
Welcome Bert. At this time of year many cleaners go AWOL on their storefront accounts due to cold temps. It might be the right time to find a few grateful new customers by showing up in all temps to keep their glass clean.
Welcome to WCR Bert, there’s tons of helpful info on this site. I highly recommend the Search feature of this site. You can read for days, weeks, even months. One of the biggest questions newbies have is about pricing, and you’ll find tons of posts about price that should help you. Read everything you can, ask questions if you can’t find the answers you’re looking for and don’t give up.
I’ll be starting my own Window Washing business tomorrow from scratch on day one. I think I’ve got a good pitch and a good brochure I made up ready to go for good potential prospects. I have to be bluntly though honest despite my area having literally zero big name competition, at least none that I’ve found in the yellow pages that offer the same service anyway. It’s very exciting but I’m scared to death.
I’ve been thinking about breaking away from an hourly minimum wage job for years. I just never worked up the cojhonies to actually go out and do it until recently. I’m glade I found this site so I can benefit from all your experience and wisdom. I was thinking about just starting out with a pricing scheme that was low and very gradually work my way up in prices once I get a bit faster and more experienced. I read a lot of negitive talk about low-ballers but I honestly don’t see any other possible way for a new guy like me that knows diddly about the inner ins and outs of a service based business to break into the market.
Hey Man,
I live here in Charlotte 6 years as well and haven’t been really affected by the franchises around here. While their 2000 storefronts are pretty good a 1000 residential customers is solid but I wouldn’t let that intimidate you. if you would like to talk you can call me 704-616-5755
I started my window cleaning with no car. Just started local, took my time, if your good the word of mouth is amazing. Now years everything I own my business paid 4, my advice is just keep at it.
