hello everyone
I am looking to start my own residential window cleaning company. i have read through the threads on here, but cant seem to find out what type of insurance policy i may need and or if need a permit. Any help would be great. Thank you
Im in ohio. Insurance is pretty broad, check around for the best policy and rates. I have a million for a pretty reasonable price per year. As far as permits, I know you’ll need a service vendors license to collect tax, which can be obtained at the Ohio business gateway website. Best of luck.
ok i will check around an see what i can find. thank you for the help!!
Hi, welcome to the wonderful world of window cleaning :)…i have a 2 mil policy, very reasonable i think. Its thru nationwide. In 1 of the cities here, im suppose to have a contractors license…to clean windows, i dont understand that really, other than its $50 the village gets yearly. If I drive 2 miles in another or any direction I dont need it…other than that I have vendors license and have my co name registered in ohio. But I did that because I became an llc couple years ago. Looking forward to your posts. Thanks for the friend request too.Good luck!!
In addition to the info already given, when doing residential, you’ll want to be bonded also. Doesn’t cost as much as your regular insurance but the peace of mind is worth it.
BTW: Welcome aboard and let us know what other questions you might have.
I carry 4million thru Westfield, but it’s a high rise policy. If you don’t need over three stories, even with no experience rating, should be less than $500 per year. Don’t work without it, though theres no state requirement per say. Get Ohio BWC, even though you don’t have to carry workers compensation coverage on yourself as the owner. Thecertificate alone will create a liability firewall for your customers (they don’t care if your covered; they just want to know theyre off the hook. I’m northeast of you an hour or two. Welcome
Thank you every one! Information is great on here. No more question right now, just lots of reading to still do. Thank you again!!
