Okay, so is it window WASHING or window CLEANING?

My company name is Atomic Window Washing. I like the alliteration, that’s the only reason behind the name, really. Plus, well, we do wash windows. But some prefer to say they “clean” rather than “wash”. Is there or has there been any debate about this in the industry, or is there even any difference?

Window washing means you will mop and squeegee the window. Window cleaning means you will remove every speck of debris

Sorry to bring this video up in the form again but I just couldn’t help myself:smile::smile::smile::smile::smile:

Its Winda Cleanin’ ask George Fromby.

Washing is what you do to your hair, cleaning is what you do to a window.

For what its worth, according to Google, “window cleaning” is searched for 5x more than “window washing”.
Just sayin’ …

What about the term “winder warshin”?

I prefer money harvester over window washer…

It seems, according to the Oxford dictionary, that the words are functionally the same, virtually synonyms, but I get you if “cleaning” is the norm. I’m not changing my company name though. It just sounds too cool.

For what it’s worth people tend to use the term Window Cleaning here more in Australia, irrespective of wether it is ‘cleaning’ or ‘washing’…

I call b.s. no difference it comes down to preference. I hope they use a dish cleaner and not a dish washer in the restaurants otherwise there’s going to be someones left over food on my plate.
