It’s not a question of whether it will work or not. Its a question of whether it’s necessary.
There may be easier, less labor intensive methods that will work, using products he may already have. I would try those first.

So bio-clean is the paste, Biokleen is the Ecover type natural soap. I have the dish soap in front of me bought at a health place. Biokleen, Natural Dish Soap, use as bubble bath, pet shampoo eliminate odors in plastic wash dishes. Seems pretty good Nice slip as well. So far no edge residue when dries.
Gotcha Caleb…Its one process that I keep handy, so it came to mind quickly.

What tool do you use for that process?

I wasn’t protecting anyone, I was telling you that it was the protective film that comes on the windows from the factory. That’s the way I understood it when I read it.
This space rented for October by all fans of Boobies. It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Simple. I do ccu. I did them 2 yrs ago. When I did them they had a protective film left on for 6 years.
OK if you did ccu 2 yrs ago and the windows were baking for 6 how did u do a construction clean up 2 years ago on 6 yr old glass windows and not remove the film or better yet why add acid to known glass with a protective film on them. Not glass but film, Duhhh.
JFC! Am I the only one that doesn’t find this a bit off. If he had the intestinal fortitude to reply and actually defend his thread then can clear this up.
I’m thinking like you, filling in the blanks. Did these windows new 2 yrs ago and did clean since. Windows had spots, used restore and they fogged. Was it then he noticed the film or 2 or 6 yrs ago. Was it removed and a film remains…
You know what, here it is.
1 dont add chemicals to filmed windows ever!
2. If there is a film that needs to be removed take it off. If take off do it correctly.
3. If did these for 2 years and there are spots that need acid you are cleaning them wrong.
4. If the film remains, remember that there is a film and if getting damaged, remove it. Let the owner know something is amiss.
Unless he meant the windows were old to begin with, did a remodel clean up 4 years after install and for 2 years cleaned them with pure water on a few panes that probably had bad sprinkler spots (who knows). Maybe removed the film because it was bad, not sure. All we know is the glass fogged. Is this a normal reaction?
Nevermind, don’t really care anymore.
Good grief…intestinal fortitude? I’ve been working all day and haven’t had a chance to reply. Relax…
If you read my original post, you can answer most of your questions yourself.
They were building this house, mansion, that took them 6 years due to a difficult client. The windows were shipped with a protective film on them, that is supposed to me removed immediately after install. You’ve done plenty of CCU, so I imagine you have seen this before. The film baked on the glass for six years, and was like removing old tint off the glass when I finally did the clean up. Following me so far? Since I’ve did the original construction clean up, I have maintained the glass every quarter for the last two years. I sprayed some OneRestore on a few panes (first time on this job, but not the first time using it), and immediately the glass clouded up. I’ve tried white pad, oil flo, steel wool, razor blade…nothing touched it. I’m guessing it damaged the glass and is irreversible. I will try some other stain removers, and will continue to try and figure out what went wrong. I am assuming it had some reaction to the film baking on the glass for so long, because I have used OneRestore dozens of times with no other issues.
Why would you think I need to defend my thread? I am not on here 24 hrs a day, just waiting for replies. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to get back on immediately for you, Jack.
seems to be the tool of choice. what pads do you prefer?
Warrior 6inch works great yellow foam pad.
Glad I read this thread. I have a similar situation. Did a ccu on a mansion/castle type house. Plastic was left on glass for 3 years. Had to peel plastic off with blade and took residue off with OIL_FLO. I will maintain the exterior monthly. Will definitely tell owner to keep sprinklers away from windows. Did you have any etching left on glass after peeling plastic off? I do and still need to address this with owner.

I can help. I’m pretty sure I know what’s happened and how to resolve it. I’d love to post it, but it’s better if you call me up or PM me. My phone number is 619.779.5858.

When you get a chance can you give us a Cliff note version. This stuff keeps popping up some sort of film or residue from film and all seems fine then one day… Something to look for or avoid doing… Might have to remove some film soon and telling how it was prepped and put on makes me wonder what else I may be in for.
Gimme a ring tomorrow morning and I’ll be happy to talk to you about it, reason I don’t put it up on the forum is because of a couple people who I bid against on this type of work have very little in their tool arsenal and I really don’t want to help them anymore than I already have, know what I mean?

Roger that. Sent PM
Good luck Tory if Jack talks as much as he types your in trouble…

I’ll be good. Just trying to get edgumakated.
Hey, bleach will disintegrate spider webs. Bleached ones melted. Sprayed the heck out of my clinic’s corners and lobby area today. Areas I used coconut oil and vinegar, they did not return. Think they are on to me now. I better watch myself on Wed when I go again.
Wow… People are getting feisty and it’s not even January! lol!
Is it possible there was a reaction to the tin side of the glass from the One restore?
The only thing we have used to get off that type of fogging successfully is DR Glass De etcher (I’d have to pull it out to see for sure on the exact name). Not as intense as Glass Renew but did good for us when we’ve used it. Shoot me a PM if you want…

Naaa. All a misunderstanding. Guys like washed up, Tony, Dan and a few others actually keep me centered and on track. They don’t know it but they do. Maybe others too if one was to listen.
