Opening new pella windows

Good point, Steve. I’ve been to NJ plenty of times anyway.

I already passed the ball to All County lol… sorry guys, next time

Just did one today. The lower clip. Controls the opening. First up to click. At halfway point. Then down to click at bottom the window will open on hinges. The upper clip goes up to release. The large middle handle moves the blind
On the sliding doors. There an additional clip on the bottom. Move to left. Always use window pry bar angled to be sure it free to move
Pretty scary as these windows are very expensive and stupidly designed. Gently with the angled pry bar. If it’s open it will move nose
There can be an inner grid over the blind. So when the blinds up it can be cleaned by hand only on the opened side
I did 30 of them. They went pretty quick. Customer was knocked out as they really looked like poop in there. Josh

We unfortunately do a lot of these… Get a painters key, the little metal paint can opener (good bottle opener on the other end ). You can carefully use it to pull the window open as you unlock it. But charge enough for these Pella Design series, they are a pain

BTW- sometimes they get stuck because the install guys didn’t pull the plastic (usually yellow) pieces from inside from shipping. So you may struggle a little then once opened one or two of these are inside the track. Just pull it out and toss it

funny that you mention the painters key. I wear one of them on a lanyard around my neck. I normally use it for screens, I tried it on that window but I didn’t want to break the wood trim attempting to up sell two windows, so I finally just left it be. But I love the painters key.

This window operates by raising the LOWER handle to the middle, you ll hear a click , and then lower the same lower clip to the bottom, you ll hear another click . Use a 30 degree pry window pry bar to move it and make sure its free. The big ones on the sliding doors have an additional clip moving to the left to click and the window opens on hinges and stays attached. If there are blinds raise them, some have an internal lattice which doesnt come out. It is a factory press fit with the blind assembly. You ll have to clean by hand behind these. Use 50% alchohol 50 % pure water , so it dries very fast and you wont cloud the windows on closing. I did 37 of these last week in 3 1/2. Pretty easy
This is yet another indication of Pellas lack of concern for their customers, that there is not an instruction sticker on these compicated windows. The customer service is alsa atrocious at Pella. But Jen Weld is starting to eat their lunch. There only so long they a can get away with ripping people off

The internal lattice/muntins will come out- but depending on your comfort level you might not want to. takes a little practice getting them back in and aligned properly. Once I figured it out I found it to be a big time saver. you’ll probably want to wear rubber gloves when reinstalling the muntins, though, as it’s basically impossible to avoid touching the glass.

went to you tube to see if I could find you a demo of this overly compicated pella system, I couldnt , but I did see 7 “Pella stinks” videos on the page, this link refered to a class action suit so I guess a lot of people dont like their pella windows

wow really that s good to know I was too chicken to yank on them, so I did them by hand with alchohol. Not bad pretty quick buts its rub a dub dub

They actually come out fairly easily. After you open the Design Series look at the mutton and you’ll see it just clips on the that inner frame. Then just do one at a time. Takes longer than the old school Pella version but it’s really not that bad. Just adds to the already built up annoyance to Pella’s dumb design choice. When customers ask it’s def not Pella I recommend lol

It is funny I saw this thread last week and got a call for a job with about 20 of these, did it today and tit went great. Thanks for the help.
