Perceived Value

My wife was trying to sell our couch on craigslsit to make room for other furniture.

Anyway, she had the couch listed (cheaply I might add) for about a week and hardly had any interest. Then she decided to re-post it. This time she upped the price by 33%. Within three hours, she had 5 or six people want to come see it. The first person that got there paid us, loaded it up, and went home.

Just goes to show that people don’t always go for the cheapest price. Sometimes they know that they get what they pay for. So even if something is a good deal, sometimes people will pass it up because they figure it’s too good to be true.

I just thought I’d share. Maybe encourage others to not lower their prices and maybe even up them a bit. (Thanks Kevin for encouraging that so much)

would a selling quote be ā€œyou get what you pay forā€?
I should try on one of my customers. Give them a really high bid and say the quote, and if they reject it, I’ll tell them i was just joking and give them regular price

Sounds very unprofessional.

That sounds like a great way to Lose customers!

No one knows what your service is worth until you tell them.

that is a fact

Actually, John, I don’t encourage my competitors to do that at all…just me, in my local market

And you’re welcome!

Now raise your window cleaning prices (again)

Don’t worry. I’m no where near your area!
