Hello guys and gals! My name is Roman, I am 27 years young. I moved to “The Land of The Free” from “Mother Russia” back in 2001. I ended up in Atlanta…
My first experience earning money was being a waiter at a local “Roadhouse” restaurant. That lasted for about a week. Manager I had to put up with and the money I was making did not meet my quota. I was always hungry for a good company of people to work with and obviously a decent pay for the job I performed. Some years I worked multiple jobs at a time. Many moons later I thought I finally found what I was looking for.
The place had a decent staff, decent pay, great benefits, clean uniform, air conditioned facility, somewhat “good” cafe and clean bathrooms. My title was a Building Engineer. I was so happy to have that job that I had no issue accepting a request (beginning of 2011) from a property manager to come in after-hours literally minutes before the snow storm (a lot of snow in Atlanta is as rare as humans landing on the moon). Long story short, due to Atlanta drivers and vehicles with 24" rims and low profile tires I did not quite make it to the building by a car. I WALKED, YES. I WALKED 6 miles in the blizzard to the building, instead of staying at the hotel where I ended up abandoning my car. I was shoveling snow with an awesome security guard for 3 nights and 4 days.
2 months ago I got laid off for bogus reasons. 1 day later I got the scoop that the representative of the owner of the building wanted his ‘buddy’ to take my position.
And then I thought that it might be a good idea to finally start something of my own. I was always thinking about running a business that makes everyone involved happy. Well here I am. All of you guys are well aware of how happy your window cleaning business makes you and your customers.
I wanted to thank everyone for helping me with my previous questions. And yes this is my first post. You guys have no idea how much information I gathered during the first 3 days I was registered at this very forum without even introducing myself, search bar is “da bomb”. But I simply had no time :(. I now have business cards, ALL of the equipment for storefront, about 1000 windows worth of practice and of course CONFIDENCE.
THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok I am having issues with a new handle and channels I ordered.
I practiced on my mirror(about 5"x4") and guys I have tried many things but I am still having issues.
I have a new uber awesome handle with 18" channel and an old one that I bought from HD 2 months ago with a 16" channel. Squeegeeing with both handles at the same time with the same amount of pressure I noticed that my new “super” handle that I was waiting for so impatiently leaves residue(small soapy film) it dries eventually but of course keep in mind that if I take that new handle outside and use it on my new customers windows its going to leave nasty marks. I tried switching rubber, replacing rubber, different angles, different everything. How come the old handle gets rid of soapy water 99.9% and the new one gets rid of maybe 75%. Please help. I am lost.
Ettore soft rubber inserts. Thank you
