I wanted to share my latest " thing ". I am always tinkering and trying to find more efficient ways to store and organize work vehicles. If you own a Transit Connect you know that storage length on the floor is not great for longer poles.
Pretty cool. Do you have more pics of your set up
Thank for sharing, I also cram into a Connect so this is of much interest!

Just remember stored wet poles get funky, and that Unger will oxidize, especially the first smooth piece. Always pull them apart and allow to dry after a day’s use.
Good point Greenlight. Yea fully aware of the pole funk factor. Probably don’t clean as often as I should. My process is to take fine steel wool and go over each section. Then a rag with a tad of WD40, then wipe down real good again and let dry. Surprisingly the WD does not create a problem of being to slick.
Great work. Can you share a link to those cross bars and parts used besides the PVC tube?
You can purchase all items at Lowes or Home Depot. Go to the electrical dept and look for the small Unitstrut ( Jr Strut ). Unistrut Straps for the size pvc you use. L brakets. 1/2 All thread rod and nuts. The transit has predrilled and tapped holes for the rear L brackets. For the front you will need to drill and tap the metal. Metal is very very thin in front so drill (2) 1/4x20 holes for each side and tap them. Because the metal is so then I used nut and bolt locking cement.
Also make sure you fasten a third piece of Unistrut perpendicular to the front and back piece and to the front and back piece down the center to stabilize the structure.
Note - I am certain 3/8 all thread would be sufficient and little easier to work with.
Where are you located in KY ? I am in southern Ohio area.
I likes!!!
Good idea and engineering. I’m tempted…
Awesome, thank you! I’m in Central Kentucky, about an hour and a half away from Cincinnati.
I put corrugated plastic sheet on the crossbars, can hold loads of poles.
And they won’t roll back and forth ! Great Idea !
I use the Xero Ultimate 40’ and never really do any maintenance (other than wipe off noticeable dirt). In over a year it’s never gotten ‘funky’ or anything. Makes me glad I don’t have an Unger WFP.
