Power Washer....Which One?

This is my first post and I’m a complete newbie in the industry. I’ve learned a lot from everybody here. From reading what you all have said here I can determine that a belt driven pressure washer is best. I don’t have a clue about which brands are best or what I should be looking for in a quality unit. I plan on cleaning siding and driveways, mostly residential on a part time basis at first. I also plan on using the x jet eventually. Any suggestions? Thanks

I strongly suggest a Honda engine. The gx390 13HP engines are great. I also really like General brand pumps. Any pressure washer with those two components under any brand will serve you well.

Check out pressuretek.com and give Bob, the owner, a call. He’ll be able to set ya up nicely.

great choice, also you would want to get a 5gpm machine or higher.

I agree with the above about Honda 13 and a General pump. I just got one from Bob @ Pressure Tek a few weeks ago and it screams.

A 4 GPM machine works great for residential. A 5 GPM machine would be even better but way more money than the 4 GPM.

A 4 gpm belt drive is great.
If money is tight you could start with a 4 gpm direct drive. I doubt you’ll be using it 8/5 in the beginning.

I called Bob a while back to talk about buying an additional PW. I asked if I was messing up by getting a belt drive 4 instead of a 5.5. He asked, “Do you have so much work that you can’t get it done with a 4 gpm machine?”

Thanks for all the responses.
Is 4000 PSI too much for most residential jobs?

Yes, for everything but cleaning concrete.
But you’re not gonna get 4G at the tip because you are going to use large orifice tips to drop it down and keep all of your GPMs.

I have a direct drive 4 gpm that puts out about 3200 psi. Its more than we need because we don’t do any flatwork.

I agree with Bob’s rationale, don’t buy it until you need it. Especially if you’re new and got some experience to gain.

Buy from Bob and you will get a lot more than a machine…
