I have a friend with a 21" BE surface cleaner for $300. Just wondering if I should buy it. I only have a Cold water 8 gpm 3000psi unit. Just wondering if it’s useless without hot water.
I got us a surface cleaner 2 weeks ago and I only have cold water pressure washer. Well worth the money if you are doing any kind of pavement. I put a little video of us using ours on the front page of my company website. Check it out.

A surface cleaner is worth its weight in gold, but I would check around on price. Also make sure 3000 psi will be sufficient to turn it. Cold water is fine as long ad you aren’t doing a bunch of grease and oil work.
Yes, its definately worth having one. Im not sure about that exact model. We run 20" Whisper wash classics withd 8gpm@3000psi machines. It works great for residential.
I think 300 is a little steep for a used BE… I’d offer 175.
Micah is it a crappy quality unit? I’ve searched and can’t find any info on BE. Every other unit that size is 300+
You ONLY have a 8gpm pressure washer. Thats a nice pressure washer. I would definitely get the SC. I have a BE and love it.
“Pressure washing pavement or asphalt with a regular wand is like mowing the lawn with a weed eater!”
Gotta love that line…

A surface cleaner is crucial for getting fast, good results on concrete.
BE-20" Whirl-A-Way Flat Surface Cleaner
A new BE is about $380 in this ad. I’ve seen them for a little over $300 on sale. That’s too much for a used one.
The swivel on those isn’t great and the painted steel handle will rust out fairly quickly. If it’s all you can afford right now, get it if you can get it for less than $200. Then start putting back the money that you make with it toward a Whisper Wash Classic. When the BE bites the dust grab a Classic and don’t look back.
This is the picture he sent me. Looks like it’s all aluminum.
Oh wait he says it’s stainless.
OK, that one is $500-$600ish new.
Yeah that’s a little bit better quality then some of the plastic ones. I’d say it comes down to what kind of shape it’s in… how “used” is it?
Check the spray bar. Is it bent? Is there any play or side to side wobble? Does it spin freely or does it have a gritty feel?
A new union for that is probably around 300, so if you have to replace that anytime soon, you’d be better off with a new one.
Check this one out: HYDRO TEK FLOOR SURFACE CLEANER!!!MUST SELL – not my favorite, but I’d buy this one rather then the BE.
I agree with Thad about the classic, but I think i’d have to go with a larger surface cleaner made by whisper wash… like the ground force or big guy. it’s extremely hard to keep a plastic surface cleaner on the ground with 8GPM just because of the weight.
