Pricing pellas w/ internal screens

Hello everyone,

How should I charge for pella windows that have internal screens - the kind that you have to unhook and draw up…

In general, I’m a little confused on storm pricing, even w/out the internal screens. If I charge $2 per pane per side for regular ground level work (up to 8 sq. ft per pane per side), the storms seem like a LOT of extra time to charge the same amount as the fixed panes.

For comparison, I’m thinking to charge regular DH thermals, up to 8 sq. ft per pane per side, at $8 per window for ground level, regular cleaning (plus $4 for the screen removal / wash / rinse / replacement).

I’m in an upper middle class to affluent area in central indiana

many thanks for your input.

I charge more than double when dealing w/ storm windows because they are more than double the work when you figure tear down and reinstall of panels.

Double for the storm panes or for the whole window? ie, if I’d normally charge $8 for thermal DH, would I charge the pella storms only at $16 and make the whole window $24 total? or, just double the whole window to $16 total?

I was talking about the whole thing (window, storm unit, remove panels, replace panels, brush screen, and vacuum out track).

I think what Tony is saying is :if you charge $4 for a normal panel, you ought to charge more than $8 for a Pella w/ removable insert. Whether you have to remove the screen or just slide it up and down in it’s track as some have, you are still facing far more than double the labor. For those panels with the inserts you have to be as close to perfect as possible for them to look acceptable.

I let them know I am sorry but they will need to find someone else to wash them. Way to many nice jobs to do then deal w/ those nightmare windows.

You don’t even give them a high price? I price these really high( Because they are a major pane in the butt) and get 1-2 out of five. I’m totally happy when I make 5-600 bucks in a day.

Heres how i price storms, whatever i come up with for all outsides say 90.00, I multiply that by 4 (for 4 panes per window) then I add on an extra charge for screens and for taking apart the storms - at least 1/2 or more(of 1st price-$90) usually, depending on how much of a pain its going to be ($360.00+50.00+$45.00) every house is different, but thats my formula I try to go by,may not work for everyone…btw, i hate storms:mad:…

I really don’t understand why everyone hates storms so much. Yes there is a little more work involved but there is also more money involved. 1 guy on the inside and 1 on the outside. It works out great.

I did an estimate on these pella “storms” today for the first time and charged 20 per window because they don’t seem has time consuming as normal storms… will find out tomorrow if they like the price… I on avg charge 25 per storm window and $1 extra for screens and $1 for tracks… if they want to pony up the money than I’m happy to clean em… I was tempted to give them the $80 an hour price

I hate Summer because I get hungry with the slow down of work!
Bid a huge home with wall to wall Pella windows. Yes, those windows where the inside pane pulls out and you end up cleaning 4 surfaces. I dropped my price $1 per surface (-$10 per 3 pane window, 2 remove top one doesn’t) because I need the work and thought they might say no! It happens. So the overall bid was like $500 below what it should be in/out.
$2,225.00 will be a nice payday right now but $2,725.00 would be nicer. I should pay someone to go bid for me when I’m hungry! LOL
