Pricing restaurants

No I don’t do a lot of route work - Resi is mostly my thing. And I also do not charge residential for storefront, but I don’t charge $1.00 either. A larger window gets charged a bit more than a smaller one. Residential is a different animal and more lucrative per job. Stores for me range from $38 to $175 and some fall in between. A large office complex I do indoors twice a year is…well…very nice $$$.

Mcdonald’s don’t clean out here its all in house they have a guy there that does it all bathrooms windows they probaully pay him min wage to do all that stuff there . Wendy’s use to they stopped a while back there windows are always dirty.

There are 4 McDonald’s here and I deal directly with the owner of the franchise. I dealt with the previous owner also. The Wendy’s here got tired of nasty windows about 15 years ago and hired me.

I think I asked you about this once before . I know someone on here mentions Mcdonalds, an when I hear that I know no one cleans them in our area .
To bad he didn’t own a bunch around hear there has to be at least a hundred of them in an around Long Island

I think each franchise owner can choose how he wants to keep his buildings clean; in-house or contracted. I’ve done the McDonald’s for about 20 years now, for two different owners. The current owner will probably sell and retire in 5 years or so, and then I’ll need to work on the new owner all over again.

I also suggest mopping several windows if you need a pole. Squeegee 5 windows down to where you can reach and it goes faster.

I don’t understand when guys say they are not good with a pole. For me a pole has become just like extension of my right or left arm. Everything storefront/restaurant type job if it’s to tall to reach by hand I use a pole. Ladder rarely comes out of van. Of course there are certain occasions( nocked down a stupid sign, or have to move a neon to get to a window). But Man U got learn how to use poles Eastwood. Because standing on a bucket is dangerous. Anyway price depends on how competitive your market is. If u haven’t heard back in a week or two u probably have been under bid.

And chasing under-bidders is a frustrating cause. Always present yourself and your bidding as a professional who offers real quality over Bucket-Bob pricing. Most successful business owners know, comparatively - yet figuratively speaking, that there is a difference between a “Ford Fiesta” and a “Ford Mustang.” Outline the things that set you apart from the rest in a conversational way.

Not getting off the subject but eastwood do you do pressure washing also?

I’m with Chad Neal’s window cleaning on the pole thing. For people starting out or who aren’t proficient with a pole, my advice is to eat and sleep with that thing until it becomes an extension of you. It’ll probably take you 30-45 days to get comfortable with it, and by 90 days it should be second nature.

Poles save you time, they save you headache from having to dig out the ladder, and it certainly sets you apart from someone standing on a bucket.

On a restaurant like this, if it was just out of hands reach, I’d mop 4-5 windows, side pull the top to where I can reach it and then bust the rest of it out by hand. Depending on how hot it is, you might be able to mop and top an entire side of windows like that in no time.

What’s funny is, it probably is fine with them.
“You’re under 6 feet from the ground so, all is well.”
Snap your neck, pop your back all you want.

“But that rig that could hold up a tank, scares the hell out of us… heights in general, scare us.”
“You are gonna have to redesign and rebuild the whole building if you want to have your windows cleaned.”

OSHA: Posturing to inexperienced fumblefucks.

Not yet, I’m adding roof cleaning this month, and my plan is to buy a pressure washing set up towards the end of summer/fall, Or when I have money to spend.

So I use my pole almost daily, I’m fairly proficient with it, but I’m not as good as I want to be and every few pulls I bring the squeegee down to dry it as I can’t seem to figure out how to keep it from leaving a line after 3 or so pulls. So I do need a lot of work with it still. If you guys have any tips that would be great.

And the bucket thing is really only something I do when I have one or two windows that are just out of reach, but you are all right that it’s something I should cut out.

The most subtle trick is knowing what the water wants to do.

If you come down perfectly level the water will come out of both sides if the squeegee. That’s why people overlap so much

If one side is a little higher than the other the water will want to crawl up. Imagine how snow plows push snow. Stop the plow and imagine you’re Pulling the snow towards you. How would you angle the blade?

So going from left to right on the window, you want the right side of the squeegee a little higher to push the water to the right. Then when you go up to make another pull, turn your squeegee right side down. This keeps the water on the right side of your squeegee.

I really need to make a video because it’s hard to describe.

That makes sense. The part I have trouble with is the water that remains on the blade when I start the next pull. Are you guys tapping it on a dry dirty pane or the top of that pane? It just seems to build up and then when I start it starts with a line. I hope that makes sense.

I don’t wipe or tap. Just keep the water running towards the wet side of the glass. I’ll post a video tonight.

That would be awesome. Thanks

the reason i asked about pressure washing is I noticed there side walks are in need of some TLC!just food for thought

The story of my life, here…

… come out verbally as Sanskrit. :o

Remember that the inside of the restaurant has to be done during off hours . make sure it fits your schedule, and price accordingly or you’ll regret it.
