or a very thick screen mesh that keeps sunlight out. they hold on to dirt like fat kid holds on to candy. they can be created to cover very whole large windows and cost a small fortune. they are great for energy savings.
Oh⦠one of thoseā¦
I hate working with those buggers. dust flies everywhere when I try to get to the glass. I donāt think Iāve ever even thought of cleaning those, and I doubt I ever will
I wipe them off with a damp cloth before using my mop; otherwise, the no and water are dirty after just 2 panes.
youāre right⦠no one likes themā:face_with_symbols_over_mouth:. Iām raising prices now and more!
Well let me get in on the action with this thread.
Iāll be going live with my business In January. Iām getting everything ready of course beforehand. Iām working on my price sheet. I had this detailed elaborate pricing guide, and to be honest it was too busy.
So I changed it to KISS it. Keep it simple. What do you guys think?
Iād like to schedule Friday, January 21st
- Outside only
- I have 5 French panes 3rd story
Any reason why screen cleaning is more than track cleaning?
Also, just so I understand: is the double hung price for upper&lower together (as in $6 for both), or is it for lower & upper separate (so $12 for both?
And do you count a walkout basement as a story? Did a single-story ranch today that was on a hill, so almost half of it I had to ladder-up on the outside like it was a 2-stort house. Might be worth considering how youād price that (and split-level homes), if you havenāt already.
Looks pretty good though! Thatās about what I price. Only difference is I price according to window size instead of 1st/2nd/3rd story. But I imagine it would even out in the end.
Anyway, I like it! Seems like a solid starting point, and I like your minimums, too.
Edit: looking it over again, you might consider upping your sliding door and double hung prices a tad. I feel that most jobs youāll get wouldnāt hit the minimum price with what you have so far. For example, I charge $14 in/out per double-hung and $7 per regular pane, and my prices would be right around your minimums.
Someone else might want to chime in on that, as I could be reading it wrong.
Thanks a lot for your input! I was going to charge a little more for screen cleaner due to the process of it all and the use of the cleaner. Track cleaning Iām already there, all I have to do is scrub with a brush, spray and wipe.
Yes the $6 is for both the upper and lower on the double hung.
I thought about that with your situation you had. I would have counted it as a second story. I see it as, if they have stairs getting to another part of the house itās considered a story to me. We have some lake homes in our area, they look like a two story house from the front, but itās on a hill. So when you look at the backside at the lake view, they can have 3 story decks back there. I would consider that a three story house.
Working with my stepdad we charged but the window size, and god dang it was confusing a lot. So many times I was trying to figure out what size it is from afar.
I am considering changing the price a tad for that same reason. Thereās a lot to double hung for the reason I drop the pane down to clean behind the latches and what not.
Homeowners donāt count windows the same as the person having to do them. I do onsite quotes or the customer can send pictures, even then the price will be verified upon putting eyes on the job. One window to a customer can be 6 ft wide x 10 ft high, obviously that would be extreme and have a special price - but you get my point? Sliders are $8 one side. There is a charge for āWhile Your Thereā, tracks are an add on to the window price, $3 to brush dirt loose, vacuum, wipe with damp cloth, screens $4 add on. I know some may charge a little more, some may charge a little less, or not at all, but I feel added to the window price it works out okay. I donāt let the customer pick their prices so I donāt list them for them to cherry pick through to the price they want. When I offer the quote I sell my service along with it explaining the value they get for my service. They get an exterior price and what I will do for them, and they get an interior and exterior price also pointing out what they get for that service. That way odd or difficult windows donāt have to come with an explanation of why it doesnāt match the posted price per window.
So Iām messing around with my pricing and priced out my own house. Itās a two story split level house. 16 double hungs. Two front doors totaling 10 French panes. Screens on every window.
With my pricing Iām at $300 with an in/out, screens cleaned, tracks/sills cleaned. Does that sound snout right to you or is that low/high?
Thatās meeting my $225 minimum in/out for two story.
$43 screen cleaning
$32 tracks/sills
Can I use ur price sheet but with my logo please? Or can you let me know where u found the template?
Honestly I would first work on your branding make sure you have a lots of review online either google, facebook and etc and once you are at the clients house make sure you do an exceptional job in order to have a great reputation in town.
Second I would offer to the client options such as regular cleaning and deep cleaning, regular cleaning for glass and screens only and deep cleaning for tracks as well. I usually charge 50% for the deep cleaning and 95% of the time client want the deep cleaning.
Once you improved your branding and you offer regular cleaning and deep cleaning you will see clients wonāt care much about price they will want the job done with you. I am charging today $15 for windows $7 for sigle pane and $3 for screens once a tell them about the deep cleaning Iād increase 50% of the final price.
