Pricing

Hey guys
I am still working on getting my pricing together I was curious how do you charge for transoms and windows that are not 2 pane? Also I have seen windows that are double hung but are thinner or wider than the standard. Would you charge diff in that case? I have my double hung price at $11 right now. Here is a video of the randomly shaped windows that I am not sure how to price. It is the jacuzzi room I am referring to. You can see it best at around 30 seconds. Not the best video but you can maybe get the idea.

I usually price them at about 1/3 to 1/2 the price of the window below it depending on the difficulty

Ok…This is gonna sound stupid, but how would you price the window below it? I only have my double hung price down so far. I guess in this video it is a casement window

Since you have your price for a double hung, you should know approximately how long it will take you to clean one. So try to adjust your price for other windows based on how much more or less time it will take you.

I might charge the same for casements as I do for double hungs if the panes are large. If they are smaller I charge a little less. mostly because there is a little less detailing.

I feel your frustration on pricing. I started asking here, asking customers what previous cleaners charged, friends that worked for other companies, etc… All because I wanted to be in line with how much other companies in my area were charging. Then one day not too long ago it hit me. It’s MY company. Not my competitors, not my customers. I will charge what I think is fair. Basically once I had a grasp for what others charge for a 1/1, that is when I learned how to price everything else.

Just remember this is YOURS. Don’t worry about others

Sorry to be so vague on a price, but I have certain things and other value that I include with the cleaning. Who’s to say that you offer the same.

shouldnt have said that

I have been in this field a little over two years and I am still trying to get my pricing right Jay. It all depends on your area. But like Tim said, you know your price for one size window is $11, So adjusting should be easy. And Tim, think before you type, try not to be so rude.

You’ve got to be f$&king kidding me…

In my area it’s 5 bucks a pane, in & out. That’s each framed pane. I raise the price when I’m busy & get the high paying jobs about half the time. I put another buck or two for the big panes.

I got the idea for the system I use from somebody here (don’t remember who or which thread) and it has worked pretty well for me. I price by the pane. I made a sheet for window counts that has a 1x line, a 1.5x line and a 2x line. All panes (in/out) are 1x unless there is a reason to charge more (unusually large, high etc.) When I need to price above the 1x rate I choose either of the 1.5 or 2x depending on the difficulty etc. When done I will have hash marks on each line. I count up the 1x and multiply that by my current rate of $5.00 per pane. Then I count up the 1.5x line and multiply the number on that line by $7.50 etc. I also have a cut-up line.

I have an area for notes that I can include any resto, ccu akward skylights etc. that would require more than 2x.

It has worked well for me and I recently did an estimate on a 6,800 sq. ft. home, 3 levels with 258 panes (not one cut-up). That house would have been a pita if I hadn’t used this system.

Seriously?

Oh ok! Great reply Tim! I really appreciate it! It really helps me a lot.

You’re welcome.
