Product Review: Glass Gleam 3

I haven’t done a product review for WCR, but I thought I’d do a short one tonight since I learned something and doubt that anyone has reviewed this product (in this way) before.

I’ve found that Glass Gleam 3 (when diluted per directions for window cleaning) does an excellent job. It cuts through soils at least as well as other, much more expensive products I’ve been using for years. It does a good job of cutting through scuff marks (you know, those black heel marks that are such a pain to get rid of unless you do it before they get wet?) and coffee stains and stuck-on food and all the other things you typically get on these jobs.

No, not coffee, food and scuff marks on windows. On floors.

I did the interior windows tonight at one of my janitorial accounts because someone apparently took it upon themselves to clean the windows. You could literally stand there and follow every single swipe they took with their rag that was too wet with some soap that was mixed way too strong. Anyway, after cleaning them so that one can actually see through the windows again, I decided to use what was left of the GG3 to mop the floors with. You know - a little experiment.

It worked great! And at .2 ounces of GG3 per gallon of water versus 4 ounces per gallon of my standard chemical (with the per gallon price of each being about the same) - Id say I just just saved some money.

Pretty cool.

hmmm interesting discovery. Any idea of what affect GG3 could have polished floors over the long haul?

I’ve only just used it for this purpose last night, so I haven’t been able to test it over a period of time. That being said, the floors I used it on are floors that I refinished myself (VCT) and I will be testing it on that account and one other - both were refinished by me with different finishes (one a medium solids green-certified finish and the other a high solids uncertified finish.)

However, GG3 is neutral (pH of 7.4) and is biodegradable with (as far as I can tell) no “harsh” ingredients that have to be listed on the msds. So I would think that issues such as clouding won’t be a concern. I did hang around until after the floors were dry and there were no streaking or apparent residue present, and I wanted to think the gloss was actually a little better. But that could be either because I was only imagining it or maybe the GG3 cut through a slight residue from my other chemical (a neutral daily cleaner for finished flooring.)

It seemed to do well and I don’t foresee any problems with it.
