Purchasing pure water from Culligan?

Hey guys I’m looking to get a WFP and backpack to do some res/commerical stuff. By no means will I be doing any big high rise buildings. I can’t afford the equipment right now to make my own pure water but we have a Culligans in town that sells it at about 7$ per 15 gallons. Do you think that’s as good as the do-it-yourself stuff? I asked them what the TDS is on the water I would be buying and they basically told me its as pure as you can get. I dont know. What do you guys think. Thanks-

That price isnt all that bad, but I think it would be cheaper for you if you got something like this:

WCR DI Tank Full Set Up

This chart shows roughly what the tank would produce VS your incoming water quality.

TDS (Total Dissolve Solids) vs. Expected gallons of Pure Water:

TDS -----------------Gallons

50 -------------------- 3, 012

100 -------------------1, 506

200 -------------------753

300 ------------------- 502

400 ------------------- 376

500 --------------------301

600 --------------------251

700 --------------------215

800 --------------------188

900 --------------------167

To make an educated decion here you need to figure out what your water quality is. I would highly suggest picking up a hand held TDS meter, they are only $20 bucks… and you’ll need it anyway to test water if you get it from them.

2 things you should think about are fuel and opportunity cost. Your going to be burning way more fuel carrying all that water around, your going to need a tank to carry it in and the time spent going to get water every day.

I think even in the short term her, getting a small DI tank like I listed above will be a more affordable option for you. Please get in touch if I can be of any help.

I am sure that you might not want to get and store much water at your place or on your truck, but I know here that I can get a 5 gallon jug and go to the Culligan water machine and fill it up with 000 TDS water for $0.75, which would make 15 gallons only $2.25 Just a thought.
