Pure Cerium Compounds

Pure cerium oxide compounds are quite thick and can be applied with an oral syringe just like diamond compound. I use a hard felt ring on a rotary machine with a universal joint between the shaft and the wheel base. Over the years different materials have been used for what is called the ‘lap’. Including soft wood and even leather. Once I made a lap by impregnating a 100% cotton blue huck towel with superglue. Multiple layers did the trick. I put it to the glass just before it fully cured and it created a perfectly flat surface that literally sucked up to the glass. This was a three inch diameter disk. It also had a universal joint. I was using at that time a cerium slurry. Mostly water. When it actually started to ‘cut’ through the surface I could hear and feel the motor log down. I used this system for scratch removal. My latest invention for stain removal is a six inch wheel with a six inch hard felt ring. The ring is six inches OD and four inches ID. One quarter inch thick. The wheel is made from an aluminum magnesium alloy. I first clean the window, then wet with clean soapy water. Next I apply a certain number of drops of pure thick cerium compound to the ring then go at the glass with it. Next I soap and squeegee the window with soapy water. Because I can dramatically control the amount of cerium I apply this way there isn’t any mess to clean up afterward.

If you would like to switch from dry powder or a very dilute cerium slurry (both can create a mess) to a thick ultra pure cerium oxide ‘compound’ just send me an email.
