QUICK CONNECT WATER FED POLE BRUSH
Yes, it’s amazing to me that everything is still using threaded connections. Between the angle adapter, aquadapter, reach around, and brush head… there is quite a bit of an annoyance when things just start spinning and it’s nearly impossible to keep squared. Such a simple fix and is still yet to be made by the manufacturers.
awesome DT brush where the brush block doesn’t bang around the frames either (must sound horrible inside a building/home with some of the others I’ve worked with)
it would nice to either have all the other stuff improved or some of the options for use on the Tucker (aquadapter and such etc etc)
Bruce, I agree the tucker’s brush is quite nice but the rest of the pole is very outdated. Nothing like having to use a tool to extend your pole I actually just fitted an aquadapter on a tucker pole, they have an euro adapter for the tucker’s and then it’s just plug and play as normal!
A quick-release gooseneck system has been a feature of the Gardiner Range of carbon poles since late 2010 and now features on all of our pole range (CLX, SLX, SMAX, Xtreme & SL2). This system is also featured on the Ettore range of Aquaclean poles. Here is a video showing how this innovative system works
With our system you fit up your gooseneck with a preferred brush and then leave it on the gooseneck. When you want to swap between the pole you switch the complete assembly. Generally you would have a different brush preference for each gooseneck or like myself I have my favourite gooseneck (10" carbon 55°) and favourite brush (Xtreme Medium Mixed) and I simply switch these in seconds to whichever pole I am using for the job. We have 5 different workers who use my van set-up during the week and they tend to have their own brush/gooseneck preference so they simply put this on whatever pole they need for the job. No need to screw brushes on or off at all.
The carbon goosenecks are a fixed angle and have the brushes permanently attached by two self-tapping screws - when the brush is worn these can be changed in about 2 minutes with a screwdriver. The Resi-Necks allow you to adjust angles and we also have a long arm version. The brushes simply screw on to these. Rather than switching brushes around on the end of each quick-release Resi-neck set-up we would recommend having a Resi-Neck for each brush you use and then the whole assembly switches across from pole to pole in seconds. We find this to be a very versatile and hassle free solution.
It is not possible to put the angle adapter on the end of the carbon gooseneck. The carbon goosenecks are the lightest in the world and are designed to be used directly on the brush to maintain minimum weight (no brush socket saves 1oz/25g).
Why not have the pole with the hose with a john guest connection, coming out from the side just under a quick connect pole fitting.
This would be for ease of connecting it to your brush.
Have the angle adaptor fitted with quick connect on each end.
And fit quick connect on all the goose necks.
This way you can put an angler adaptor on you goose necks so to adjust your brush.
Or set it up any way you want.
Also then you can take all the brushes etc off you poles.
Then it makes for easy storage as well.
I understand what you mean and this would give maximum interchangeability throughout the system. However the downside for me would be the increased weight at the end of the pole. It has always been my ethos to get the lightest possible solution for window cleaning and many of our clients spend thousands on our lightweight poles and do not then want to add any extra weight at the brush head. Weight at the brush head has the greatest leverage effect on the pole user.
We have had to balance the interchangeability of our quick release system with keeping the weight as low as possible. Whilst the carbon goosenecks do not offer angle adjustment there are many users who prefer this rigidity and the weight of them is such that it is almost as if there is nothing on the top of the pole. Adding a quick release fitting to the end of the carbon gooseneck would add about 2oz/50g and this would double the weight of the whole gooseneck. It would also add about 1.75oz/40g to the brush head fitting- currently this is not something that I would want to do.
Storing poles using our system is very easy as the entire head assembly comes off and allows the poles to be stored in tubes etc.
This is what I do Herman - makes it far easier to change heads, goose-necks etc. It’s only happened once, but sometimes the John Guest fitting may pull down & release the hose if you catch it at the bottom enough to pull the hose & the JGuest fitting at a certain angle. The weight issue is a no-brainer, what 20g?
nothing has to be permanent, or standard on all poles
make the lightest then
there can merely be lots of optional parts for specific situations or personal preferences, like my gripes. Fine, more weight, but what bugs me is at least solved by ordering a specific optional part, additional weight or not
For those of our clients who want adjustability with quick release the Resi-Neck featured on the video has been found to work very well. We have sold about 3500 of these in the last 6 months with very positive comments back on their usability from our clients. You do still have to screw the brush head on to them, but we find with the Super-Lite brushes that have been designed for them that this is a very easy process and does not come loose in use.
You may find that many of the issues with the Vikan type brushes in the video is that they are not designed for use with the angle adaptors that window cleaners use. The Vikans were designed to fit onto water-through poles for truck cleaning and have a slightly different thread on them.
Using either the standard Resi-Neck, the long Resi-Neck or one of the 5 different carbon fibre goosenecks you can always get the right tool for doing the job properly.
