I have a client that has fake muntins on the inside of all her windows. These are the ones where there are clips on the ends and the fake muntins can be removed. Only thing is the window cleaner before me has broken or cracked everyone of them. So I can’t remove them. I have always put my solution on the top 2 panes of glass, squeegee and stop about an inch before touching the fake muntin. Then I hurry up and wipe that bottom inch before it drips in between the fake muntin. I have done it this way for years.
Please tell me the quickest way to get these insides done!!! Thank you so much!!!
I add 2.00 per fake Minton to the cost for removal. That adds a lot to the cost of the cleaning. Either they pay the extra for my time or they will remove them.

The muntins are cracked or broken in different areas on each one. They have silver triangle pointed clips that slide right under the frame of the window. The muntin snaps onto the silver clip. They are really tight on the clip. I tried one time to remove a muntin and I was scared to break it. I just left it alone

I’ve worked with those. Even if you can get them off you’ll probably lose a clip or 2 or waste time fighting to get those stupid things to stay on.
People on the forum have used canned air to blow those out. I think about that tip whenever I’m in a house with those fakies and I wished wished I had a can of air. I might start carrying one in the truck just in case. Lacking a can of air, I then go on to wish I had a putty knife to help get the towel down in there.
After all my wishes have been wished, I do the window and then go back latter to get the drips.
If they are casement windows that open outward you can wfp both sides. I learnt this trick on the forum here and used it out in the field. I don’t remember who originally posted this trick so that I can give credit where credit is due. Total timesaver. Be cautious of whats on the inside of the house bec you will get a little water in there so if you’re brain dead you might not want to try this. Don’t close the window right away, let it air dry for a few min then close it real slow
… Verrrry familiar with those pesky muntins. I will use a micro fiber cloth wrung out really well and use that
to wet the glass. Then squeegee. it’s just enough water for the squeegee to work, very little if any runs under the muntin.
Also I use Sprayaway sometime but I can’t stand the smell of it.
You can also take the strip washer off your handle dip it, ring it out really good, an put it back on the handle. Sprayway is a good way to go also . I would tell her to go buy new ones, Because you got me now as your window cleaner they wont break anymore.
Im assuming there wood wright? Don’t think they would be plastic with those type of clips your talking about. Just curios!
Those clips or Springs really they have a space in the middle which compresses and allows you to hit it once and push it back into the mall you if you use a window prybar to pull directly up from each one of the clips it will come off without a proble
Once it’s off if they have been bent by previous poor handling just put them back to write again up-and-down and put them in the little slot where they go and the Mulligan gets one tap will push it down onto that clip you have to have it straight
Once the mullions off you have to clean around the clips anyway so there’s tons of detail in there so
Try removing want to see which one is faster to put it back on make sure it’s centered and give it one pop a top each clip

Explain the problem. Leave the broken ones aside for them to glue and fix. Offer to come back and install them when they’re done…if you’re really nice.
Otherwise, tell them how ugly they are, suggest leaving them all off. Or suggest just leaving them on the uppers and putting the broke ones in storage.

Those shitty wood pieces are always a good 30% broken when I see them.
Point out what an inexperienced hack the previous guy was (it’s the one time I do that. Streaks and globs are one thing, breaking shit, when i have to deal with the aftermath is another)
-pop them off and “puzzle piece” them back together.
They will actually look alright when finished. (they weren’t obvious up until NOW, so…)
That’s kind of the beauty of it, line of sight takes your eye outside/through the window, not drawing attention to the frames/munts.
I was “this close” one time. The husband started all "look how much cleaner that looks, without them."
Of course the wife, the “Arteest” with glass figures suctioned cupped all over the glass, didn’t go for it.
Which sucks, because they were about 15 feet up, over top a non-moveable piano.
It takes me about an hour to do 4 stupid windows. Setup time is ridiculous.
Did I mention how much I HATE those stupid things?
…
I cleaned her windows today! She replaced all the broken muntins. I was so HAPPY and gave her a hug! Saved me about an hour. Now I look forward to going to her house:D
I was thinking about you this afternoon.
Couldn’t remember if today was your day, or not.
I kind of thought you mentioned yesterday, that today was the day, but… :o
