Rain gutter cleaning, dead beat customers who refuse to pay

I had a strange feeling going in because when I told her work was payable upon completion she said she was more comfortable paying after a couple weeks in case the downspouts get clogged. Long story short is when I sent the invoice there was no response, sent it again and I was called and told don’t worry we will pay.

Then finally there is still no payment and when Haddad Morad answers the phone he says “We will pay you, when we pay you, if we pay you” Now this is the first true dead beat we have ever had! What course of action do I take? I have all types of ideas flowing through my head and most of them will end up with me in Jail, any advice on what I should do?
My opinion is that when she said she wanted to pay after a couple of weeks you should have resisted
that idea in some way. I am assuming you do not know the customer.

Now that they are giving you trouble, keep calling them. It happens.

Trust me I want to, I mean we can climb up and they can pull the ladder out from under us, I really would love to but hey. They are simply thieves and pre meditated this. I really want to grab the husband by his neck but that will land me in the can. I simply want the effing money, I’m out wages for it and money I expected as a business owner

I did resist and she agreed to pay via credit card after completion since she is never there, then when my guys asked fore payment she was there. Seriously she called other companies too and I was the sucker who ended up with the gig!!!

I would do it. If there’s a confrontation, call the police. I’m sure they will like your explanation better.

Out of curiosity, what was the amount?

I mean, i don’t care if it was $1 or $1M, you deserve to get paid either way.

I’m just curious as to how much its worth to them to dodge someone like that. There’s a D-bag equation, and I’m sure they’ll fit into it.

$540.00

440 gutters and 100 for a 500 square foot patio PW

Ouch, that’s not pocket change either.

You can have them arrested for theft of service. At least here in NJ you can.

That is a great law, doubt it if we have that protection in this state

I would pay my guys to put the leaves back in the gutters… Take a credit card deposit.

The fence idea sounds
Wonderful… Putting the debris back in the gutters might be worth the investment… Also a credit card deposit could help to prevent later

The second you step on that property its trespassing

After about 5 years Im going to have to change the way we do business, these are the first deadbeats

Exactly once you cross that fence you have trespassed

Once you start this whole “throwing leaves on the lawn” business, you’ve become a vandal.

As much fun (read:redemption) as it sounds, don’t go there…

True, I want to play to win and pounding the husbands nose in or anything else illegal will make me lose, simply want my companies money but in my heart of hearts I realize they are not going to pay. They are not responding period and as far as payment is concerned it went from stringing it along to stonewalling

I know it’s tough.
I feel ya, man.

 • I can picture his nose in my head right now, all… perfectly… un-broken.

File a small claims suit. You will win but may still have a hard time collecting. I have a Private Investigator buddy in Murrieta, CA that specializes in judgement collections.

Send em to a collection company.

Should I sue the home owners or the person who hired us?
