Trust me procedures will change, they had no intention of paying. Got a lil lax on having the guys sign work orders and that led these people to believe they got over. They had no intentions of paying just lit that small claims fire and payment came in like magic
These happen to all of us. I park in the driveway at dinner time and knock on the door, usually works. If they ask you not to call, you have to honor that, you could lose any action if you violate that.
Glad you got paid, usually if you show you are serious and persistent they will pay. They were hoping you wouldn’t call their bluff.

At least that was the offer in the 90’s when I got an offer to go on the show to settle a dispute. You apparently have to be a NYC or NJ resident to appear though.
Judge Judy’s current mailer states that she’ll settle up to 20 disputes for $179 (regularly $249.)
price increases for additional disputes applies as well, I hear.
