I hear good things about about how easy rainflow is to install and it does look really nice in the videos and pictures. But has anybody gone back to a home 6mo after installation? How well is the product hold up? I would like to hear from somebody that deals with fir and pine needles. I have customer that I really want to recommend a gutter protection.
It will keep the pine needles out of the gutter. The only downside I’ve seen is they don’t blow off as easily as leaves. We installed rainflow on a house with alot of pine trees and a couple of weeks after, she called because she said people were asking her if they could clean her gutters for her. The needles were just sitting on top so it looked like they were full. I went back and checked it out and the needles didn’t interfere with water going into the gutters at all. I think the problem was that we didn’t have any real windy days to blow them off of the rainflow.
I figured as much. I talked to a friend of mine in the business who use to install a brand similar to rainflow. He said the same thing. Sounds like rainflow does its function but could be aesthetically displeasing when it comes to pine needles. Good to know. Thanks
Of course there isn’t a system out there that isn’t aesthetically pleasing when it comes to a bunch of pine needles.
Needles are a problem. I have run a test for about 9 months and the pine needles are sticking up everywhere. There are some pictures here should be up for a few more days http://www.waterworksnw.com/index.php?option=com_joomgallery&func=viewcategory&catid=7&startpage=2&Itemid=27#category
What is a good product to clean exterior gutter face? We currently use Wesley bleach white or Simple Green.
Thanks,
I’ve heard about gutter zap and figure its about time to give it a try. If anyone else has used this product please let me know your thoughts.
For example is it as easy as spray on rinse off? or spray on scrub off.? also is this a concentrate or full strength out of the jug?
gutter zap is a concentrate…

None of the pictures there show Rain Flow installed. Pictures 16 and 17 look like a similiar product, but the product pictured looks ALOT more porous than Rain Flow. I don’t think pine needles will stick Rain Flow nearly as bad as the product pictured on that page.
I agree. Pine needles would have to happen to drop at such a precise angle in order to become stuck in Rain Flow. Not saying it can’t happen but the screen that covers the top is fine enough to keep debris from getting through and just allowing for it to lay on top.
All in all, Rain Flow is a great product and we’ve had no problems with any installations. I often tell customers you will see some debris sitting on top of the product before it is given a chance to dry up and blow away. However, the bottom line is, it’s not in your gutters!
Greeting North Westerner!
Another thing I’ve noticed with gutter guards here in the NW is moss growth. If the water cant move or debris is covering the gutter guard, moss will start to grow inside the gutter.
Nice website by the way.
Trade links?
I think I have one or two of your competitors on my links page.
I just received my 15’ (3 pieces) of Rain Flow gutter guard which are sample pieces for me to use and decide if I want to sell and install Rain Flow. The Rain Flow guy at the trade show sent it to me to check out.
I haven’t even looked into what the stuff cost but seems some on this forum say you can charge 3 bucks per linear foot for it. Is that just for installation (labor) or cost for the product and installation cost combined.
I’ve got 2 gutter cleaning jobs on the books to do and they have gutter guard that has failed. It would be good if I can talk these customers into letting me remove the old gutter guard and install Rain Flow.
So what do you guys charge per linear foot for installation including the cost of the Rain Flow gutter guard?
Hows the rain? Sure Ill trade links, my site is in the middle of an overhaul, but you can send your link to [email protected]
Hope your busy!
That’s product cost + shipping (talk to Alex or Chris.)
Charge to customer for cleaning, product, and installation should be $8-12 (per comments on threads here.)
If the gutter guard in those two pics is Rain Flow then it is installed upside-down. I can see how installing it upside-down would be a big problem.
I just talked to one of my customers about Rain-Flow. She was very interested so I’m going to present it to her tomorrow.
She’s wanting me to clean her gutters that already have gutter guard (cheap snap-on plastic mesh). I’ll have to charge her for taking her gutter guard off, then for cleaning her gutters, then for re-installing her present gutter guard. That will be costly.
I told her she may want to go ahead and invest in an affordable gutter guard that works and is guaranteed for 20 years.
I’m not much of a salesman but I think I can sell this stuff at least to my existing customers.
Thanks Larry! I’m going to read through all of the threads about Rain Flow so I can get up to speed.
Hey Richard,
Feel free to call or email Chris, Sean or myself if you have any questions about Rain Flow. We have sold and installed thousands of feet over the past two years.
Thanks Alex! I’ll be sure to do that! I’ll be talking with my prospect today so we’ll see how it goes.
According to the info on the Rain Flow website there’s a dealer about 60 miles away. I don’t know whether I would come out better (price wise) ordering from WCR or from the dealer 60 miles away.
It seems that shipping cost would be more from WCR but I’d have to pay state sales tax if bought close by.
But then again I think your price is $3.00 per linear foot including shipping. Is that correct?
You are correct.
Even if you don’t get it from us please don’t hesitate to drop a line if you have any questions.
