So I stop in to a gas station and see this. I think what I am seeing is HW. But after talking to the owner and looking at it, it is actually very old, baked on tint. However, there is HW on the inside too. Now he wants a quote for the tint removal and the HW monthly as well as PW of the inside of the bay. The ceiling is black from soot and the wash machine is coated with old soap, HW and is nearly black in some spots. I will be checking with the PWRA about this. But what do you guys recommend for the tint removal and the HW monthly? The owner says he uses CLR. Also, as I have not done this before, what would I charge for monthly cleaning of the HW?
I did a window film removal job a few months ago. I posted the link to the discussion in the forum, which includes the method I used. Good Luck.[URL=“http://windowcleaner.com/vBulletin/residential-window-cleaning/38194-window-tint-removal-amonia-questions.html”]
This my be one of those jobs that you pass on…
If you want it:
Tint removal: soap/ water and scraper, or ammonia and scraper, or heat gun and scraper.
HWR: Mr.hardwater and polisher, or cerium oxide and polisher, or it my need Glass Renu or something in that range…
CLR (chemicals) create a lot of damage if not used properly, just giving you a little heads up Derryll.
Yeah, tint is a pain in the butt: heat gun and razor or muscle and razor. And several blades just in case.
Might talk to Henry about that wobble wheel. This job could end up paying for one for you. Also maybe some people up in here can start talking sealers.
As you can see the owner has gone to town on it, dry, with a 11/2in razor. Pretty sure he scratched the glass all up. I just thought I might be able to make $100 finishing it for him.
As for the CLR, that is what he uses every month to clean the inside of the glass. I agree that chems need to be used cautiously and with knowledge and lots of waivers. That is why I am asking about it now. I would think that whatever the buildup is in 1 month, certainly shouldn’t be that difficult to remove.
Or maybe I am wrong.

$100 f that more like $300 or $400
Heat gun is quickest way to remove old tint. If customer has been using razor or “chemicalizing” the glass, pull out the GlasRenu and polish it up
