I was wondering if anyone here knows how to remove windows that slide up and down in houses so that I can clean them easily and more accurately so that I don’t need to get a ladder or use the extension pole.
I know how to remove the ones that slide horizontally; I want to know how to remove the ones that slide vertically.
Please help, and thank you so much for your time! Also if you don’t think it’s possible, please let me know. Thank you
…Some don’t need to be removed, they just pivot inwards. Others there is a clip in each side track that pulls out and when you lift the bottom section up to it then pull it to one side and it pops out. Another kind has side tracks that flex, no latches or anything and you just lift and pull to one side. And then there are some that just plain don’t come out.
I agree with this however if they don’t pivot in and they are what I refer to as a string window balance. There will be two 2" 1/4" silver clips a little more than half way up, one on each side of the window. Take a flat head screw driver wedge under heather the clip it should pop out about 1/4" once that is done lift window up past the clips a good 4" slide window to the left or right and it should pop out. When your done slide it in lower and pop clips back down. If they are spiral window balances get out the ladder it’s not worth the headache. Plus you need a special charging tool to put the spring back into them. There are videos on u tube under window balances that you can watch to see the different kinds out there and how to work with them. Pretty good money in window balance replacements you can get everything you need from crl
