Retractable Scrapers

Up until a few months ago I’ve been using the 4" ettore scraper, always breaking the covers or losing them but they were perfect for residential work.

Now I have a 4" and I’m looking to get the 6" unger scraper, since I’ve been doing more storefront and commercial work I need a bigger blade to cover more glass.

Don’t use the unger scraper with a scrapermate holster. The shape of the handle makes it pull out of the holster and leave the blade exposed. Had a tech slice himself open once and I almost caught myself once too. definitely recommend triumph 6"

I have the ettore scraper pouch on my residential pouch and the unger double pouch on my storefront/commercial belt.

I don’t trust those scraper holders, I’m too nervous it could fall out after getting stuck on something and I end up losing it. I trust it tucked into a pouch more.

Great tip! Sort of a pun as well. LOL Dont have a holster. Many cuts and a few close calls over the year, especially the forearm area. Fingers always a nick. Use ammonia so it sucks.
Anyway, my belt has 2 large side pouches each with a smaller inner pouch. I can slide it right in but have added a bit of modified pvc as a protector for the pouch. I not only opens the pouch a bit but keeps the blade from cutting thru. I have tried a T shaped using pvc split on the long axis (handle rests in there) and the short is still cut about half way so it rests inside. Hey, get free pvc pipe pieces from builder so why not. Using the retractable 4" more so easier just to hide blade. Just have to keep the slide clean like the Triumph. Always need to keep the gunk off and lube the slide a bit. Hate it when the slide starts to open then try to get it to slide fully open. Holster is a good idea. One that is made for the scraper you use.

Sounds pretty cool. Got a pic?

hard to find. Ace, True Value Bed Bath Beyond. Have to order it if available. Actually got the manufacturer in Toronto to send me one.

When I get home from work. Have the cleaning kit on me today. What works too, is I had a piece of leather in the pouch bottom. If I could find a small rectangle plastic tuperware container the length of the blade plus an inch and a few inches high. The idea just to keep the pouch open wide enough because it rests on the hip so sort of curves to body. If I have to go high then I use a dummy cord attached to it so I dont have to go back to get it, just pull it back up.
