Hey guys got a call from a guy while on a job he saw my rig and wanted a estimate on cleaning his roof. I’m not setup for roof cleaning yet but I 've been really thinking about it. Here is the house. Just wondering if you guys could give me a ballpark estimate. Just wondering if it’s worth doing. 2 Story as you can see and the roof doesn’t really look that bad. Just a couple black spots. Thanks.
Is there gutters on the front over the front porch (Last Pic)
Firstly, establish a $400.00 min charge!!!
Secondly, always treat the entire roof. Its ok to discount the roof for not being completely stained but always threat the whole roof the same!
Thirdly, The metal roof needs rinsed constantly as the roof above is being cleaned. Then the immediate roof above will need rinsed. You dont want to destroy the powder coat / enamel finish, on the metal roof!
It looks to be about a $750.00 roof cleaning to me. Should take a pro 2 hours or less to do. You need to take at least three.
Thanks,
AC
From the Master himself!!
lol. Just called the guy and he said his highest quote so far was $290 from a guy thats been doing it for 13 years. So I was way higher lol. Oh well.
I have heard some CRAZY low prices from some people in the Lowcountry. Gotta try to tell him all about why you’re gonna be priced where you are…before giving him the price. So that way he can justify spending the extra dough, in his head.
[Did you ask / did he mention] why he is calling another service provider after 13 years with one party?
The customer in question apparently sought bids from a number of service providers – one being for $290 from a party with 13 years of industry experience. Not 13 years of serving this customer.
You misunderstood what Justin was saying. It’s okay though, it’s cuz y’all talk funny out there in CA.
Dang it! Looks like you’re right, MM.
Go figure. Lol. Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us!
Bringing your wife to NOLA again? Planning to bring mine this Feb!
She said okay, if we can go to Mexico again after.
Oh, and if we can get Walter to get us over the cemetery fence again.
I’ll give you a nickel to cup Thad’s ass.
Great! Take her to Mexico then!
If he puts on half the event he did last time, I’ll cup his ass for less than that!
We were always 30% higher than our competitors here in Florida. 30% of 400.00 is 280.00 sounds about right for low ballers. I like my higher prices to lead to a conversation about how we are a better company, obey the laws, have workers comp, have safety gear, protect plants and guarantee them with full replacement, warranty the roof cleaning for 5 years as well as guarantee no damages to roof or negation of manufacturers warranty or we will become the warranty holder instead of the roof manufacturer, and so on and so on.
The only thing that screws up this kind of value based sales approach is if you look just like all of the low ballers out there. Then its hard to make the point that you are different and deserve the higher price.
Competitors use to think we were stealing jobs from them all the time by lowering our prices, in fact we were getting the jobs away from them at more than a 30% higher price.
Hope this helps, I have webinars on this at my site, ProBizGuide.com

Ac has a great point! Customers always buy on price when they dont have enough information. I went to buy Cat Treats I know nothing about. Thinking they were all the same, I bought the cheapest ones. My Cat turned her nose at them. Lesson Learned.
It is up to YOU to provide a reason for your customers to choose you. We tell all our Tampa Roof Cleaning customers that we are NOT the cheapest, and we don’t do that kind of work. We have hundreds of posts on marketing and selling roof cleaning at the Roof Cleaning Institute Forum.
