Rubber nick

Hey everyone,
This subject was touched on a few years ago, but with no follow up. Do any of you get nicks on your rubber from your BOAB. I use a ettore chanel. So annoying. If so, has anyone come up with a solution/mod to stop this.

This issue was talk alittle bit about in another thread a few days ago…at this time I’m not sure which tread it was.

Maybe check the search button and maybe someone else remembers which thread it was!

I had this issue when I tried to use the newer Unger boab. The rubber would rest against the divider between the two squeegee slots and wear a nick into it.

I went back to the classic style, and no issues since then.

I’ll add;

newer buckt/blts need to be worn in a bit:

notice how smooth the broken in one on the left, and the rough edge on the newer. a little #1000 grit sandpaper can help smooth out the rough edge.

after time the buckt/blt will shape better to the channel:

see how the left side of the divider has bent in a bit, I haven’t tried forcing this. Maybe try to give it a little help with a shim overnight? Just a thought.

I also like to use a ldger with upside down bolts, and it seems to fit better in the bckt/blt at a better angle to keep the rbbr from grinding on the plastic:

compare the two photos.

Just a couple ideas.

Great suggestion. I duct taped the edges around the opening and it has been day 2 and no wearing on the rubber and the tape has stayed in place. Problem solved? Mabye. Fingers crossed.

Well it’s been at least a month. No nicks. Problem solved. Duct tape is still in position. Thanks guys
