Does anybody have any links or knowledge about safety requirements for mounting a large water tank safely (say 50 or 100 gallons)? I’m concerned about that much weight sheering off bolt heads during a wreck or very sudden stop. I’m also wondering about the effect that a partially-filled tank could have on stability during turns, sudden stops, etc. due to the liquid sloshing around. I remember some safety video that I saw at an WFP trade show demo 10+ years ago that has me concerned about a home-engineered set-up.
Any links you know of would be great.
Thanks,

Can’t help with links but:
Don’t speed with a hundred gallons of water behind you.
Install safety straps correctly
Look for tanks with " anti slosh" baffles.

I appreciate that advice, but even if you’re not speeding but driving only 55 mph down the highway seems to me there’s a great deal of danger if the tank is not installed properly. That’s what I’d like to figure out. Thank you
True.
I would think that strap kits available through anyone who sells tanks would be
More than adequate
Check out some uk window cleaning forums as they have been strapping tanks forever across the pond.
Pax.
I have also wondered this as well. Anti sloshing techniques are news to me, I had no idea.
To help me understand what kind of van are you mounting this water tank in.
Thanks
Kyle
Make sure the van is big enough, Carpet Cleaners put both fresh water tanks and waste water tanks in their vans, Attach them well. and don’t try to load that much weight into a small astro van.
You can find some pretty nice carpet cleaning freshwater tanks that would cross over well for window cleaning, some fit over the wheel well, but that tends to mess up your weight distribution, the center console tank by prochem is pretty nice, but is only 60 gallons.
