Scraper - 4" or 6"

I’m planning on buying the Unger Ninja scraper & was wondering what size people have found to be the most useful for commercial/industrial, 4" or 6"?

6" is great, using it on a pole is also very helpful.

I love my ninja scraper

I use a 6" triumph blade, and it has been awesome. I bent the edges out and slid it into the handle, was able to clean a restaurant with solid film post paint without issues, though I used a 1.5" with a soft touch for the inside. 1.5" and 6" have been productive for me. The 1.5" is usually my touch-up blade that I finish with dry steel wool and a fresh blue.

NoLadder Are you getting the Ninja Scraper Holster too? The holster looks awesome. I plan on getting the 6" ninja scraper with the holster and a pack of unger premium stainless steel blades. Unger claims that the premium blades are “rust resistant”. Does anyone know if this is true? Will a used blade be rust free after a week?

Hello getbackupagain.

Yes, definitely getting the holster, as it appears to lock the blade well out of harms way.
Without it, i’d probably do myself some major damage just reaching for something on my belt.

I’m thinking about attaching it to my BOAB.

The holster is the perfect accessory for it, I love it. Quick and easy use.

The stainless steel blades last considerably longer and are also worth the extra $

G’day no ladder, I thought this might help you with some ideas. I originally fitted my homemade scraper holder to my pulex boab but found it stuck out too much and was abit bulky. So I took my ettore boab cut the outer squidgee sleeve off completely and fitted the scraper holder there, making it much slicker. I did this months and months ago and am still using today, it works great. The reason I used the ettore boab is because the profile is much squarer, making it easy to fit the holder. Hope it helps.

Hello Guesty,
Nice improvisation. Thanks for the info.
It looks like you are using the 4" scraper? I use a Unger Ninja BOAB and I’m thinking that a 6" might be too wide for it.
Cheers.

Personally, if you’re using a tool belt I wouldn’t want all the weight on one side.

On my belt everything has a home and the weight is distributed relatively evenly and feels great wearing the belt all day. It’s also nice because I use both hands so you don’t overuse and wear yourself out using the same hand for everything all day.
