Hey has anyone else bought one of these? I bought one recently but have so far not been to happy with it. Every fifteen feet or so of walking it just pops off out of the holder.
I really like the concept of the design so I am going to try and manipulate the metal holder potion so that hopefully my scraper will stay in. Currently I am using a Triumph Z40 scraper. Maybe some scrapers hold better then others in the scrapper mate.
I hope my alterations will work as I really want to have my scraper secure.
just bend the metal pieces a little closer to each other. thats what i did and its really snug now. love the scraper mate, great tool once you get used to it.
Yep, that’s all you need. Although the blades rub the plastic after a while - a good clean out usually does the trick. The retractable part gets stiffer as well, but well worth it for the safety & quickness of using.
Have they improved the scrapermate because I had issues with it when using it with my straight Triumph scraper? It broke after about a week or so of using it. At the time the manufacturer said they were aware that there were issues using it with a Triumph.
It does have a retractable blade but I want the holster for quick and easy access. Even though it has the retractable blade there is nothing more annoying then having your scrapper pop off when you are going up a ladder or carrying a ladder around the house and have to keep picking your scrapper up of the ground because it wont stay in your holster.
But I plan to bend the metal ends, I think that will solve the problem.
I have a Scraper Mate. Never have used it. Just don’t care for it.
I like the vertical scraper holder made by the swedish guy but only after I modified it with a metal ring that secures the scraper in the holster instead of that cheezy worthless velcro strap and the metal snap that fail at securing any non “swedish guy” scraper.
I emailed the swedish guy about the improvement but got no reply. He’s still selling them with the cheap velcro strap that doesn’t work properly with brands other than the swedish guy brand.
But with the added metal ring that particular scraper holster is great with Triumph scrapers.
I’ve only ever used the angled MK3 in it and have never had any problem. I think there is less stress on it w/ where it holds the angled than where the straight model gets held.
I use it with the angled Triumph.
The first one I got works flawlessly. I ordered another one and it was unusable out of the box but i finagled with the metal clips until they were adjusted correctly.
to all you guys that have had problems with the scrapermate. sorry. i would like to tell you that i am a window cleaner im out there everyday. the two problems that people are having is breaking or the scraper is falling out. everyscraper has a different size handle. the mk3 handle is the bigest, it has the soft rubber. the clip does not need to be tight to hold it in, you can feel if it is tight. just bend the clips out so it isnt tight. the same goes for if it is to loose pinch the clip in. i use the reg, triumph or the unger, to me the mk3 is to heavy. the scrapermate wont last forever i have had my last one on over a year
