"Scraping" tempered windows

Hey all

I am pretty new to the field and need help with tempered windows when it comes to scraping them. Since it’s NOT recommended to scrape them with a metal/sharp scraper, what is the best way/tool/idea to clean off tape, stickers, etc? Thanks in advance!

there is a lot of info on the forum use the search. I suggest you educate yourself on tempered glass and the dangers of scraping. you can use magic erasers or 3m scotchbrite the blue ones not the green scrub pads. most tempered has a smooth side and rough side. you can scrape the smooth side without risk always use good blades on all glass. when in doubt change your blade. also be careful of window film.

What’s the best was to “scrape” film or tint covered windows?

Peachyclean why are you scraping? To remove film? You can not scrape film without damaging it. Even the blue scotchbrite pads can damage film. There are many different brands of film and some have a better scratch coat than others. Beware with film. I just replaced some film at my local dairy queen that window cleaners damaged. The bill was almost 400. I am now the window cleaner at that dairy queen. To clean film I use ecover and or glass gleem 4 and H2O with a non abrasive microfiber washer sleeve on a T bar. And my 2nd favorite tool the SQUEEGEE! My favorite tool is the WFP. My 3rd favorite is the SCRIM! Yea!

My cutys always get the no ammonia no abrasive no tape on film warning. Stay away from ammonia. If you use it sparingly it will be fine but…no experience with film and ammonia is always a bad idea. Other than that no worrys! Window tint is pretty tough. At least good quality film is.

You can get more info on tintdude.com there is a good forum there but beware some tinters can be a bit harsh with those who are not enlightened with there supposedly “higher skills”. I dig window cleaning resource people here are great and helpful.
