Screen Cleaner worth it?

I have a job next Friday that has about 15-20 screens or so I can’t exactly remember but I’m kinda tired of cleaning the screens with the screen brush I bought here then wiping them down with a rag.

Most of the talk about the screen cleaners are a bit outdated but I just wanted to ask your guys opinion on if getting a screen cleaner device / what kind to get if its worth it. To get a more of a more recent answer.

I was thinking I order the screen cleaner either today or tomorrow receive it sometime next week then for the job I set it up outside use it for each screen and put them off to the side to dry then get started on the windows.

Doesn’t this device speed up the screen cleaning process?

I bought one several years ago, used it a lot and not so much anymore.
Mostly we wipe them down with a wet micro fiber at the window.
I think it is much faster and does a good job.
Even when using my screen cleaner I often had to wipe them down after
to get rid off lines left by the brushes. I still use it from time to time
when the screens are horribly dirty. and still have to wipe most of them down
with a microfiber afterwards.

Interesting.

What about wiping down the screen at the window, doesn’t doing it this way cause the screen to drip on the floor? Don’t you get some drips?

Or I assume you remove the screen from say a double hung window, clean the window, wipe the tracks, clean the screen with the microfiber and put it back?

I guess the screen cleaner would be good for bigger homes or to use as a marketing tool at certain times.

Edit: Thanks for that this gave me some insight. I think I’ll probably do $4 per screen for deep screen cleaning or a complimentary wipe $2 per screen the way you say it.

I’ve been meaning to look into building a diy one, but we’ll see. I just include brushing the screens with a hand broom (which I also use on the tracks and sill prior to cleaning the pane) into my price and will wash (scrub - hose - dry) for an additional per screen up sell.

The microfiber is not dripping wet…too wet and it just smears dirt…too dry and it
does nothing…We almost always remove the screen to clean it. 99% of our homes
are in and out, so they don’t go back in till in and out are done.
It doesn’t matter whether the house is big or small, what matters is how dirty they are, which means using a lot of water which a screen cleaner provides.

I use the IPC Eagle II pretty regular. You do have to run the screen back and forth 3 to 6 times - or more if really dirty. I also use a scrub pad with soapy solution for the frames first as the screen washer just does not do much for dirty frames. Maintenance cleans with a lot of screens it is a great tool to have in my opinion. I also towel dry the screens and you can tell the difference by the residue left on the towel (or lack there of). The next best thing if you don’t have a screen cleaner is a shower nozzle setting on a garden hose; rinse the screens off real well and still scrub the dirt off the frames. Often I tap the excess water off and stand them on their corners to drain and dry while I go and clean the windows. I towel dry what little water is left before returning the screens to the windows. Hint: write on the top of the frame which window it came from, then all you have to do is return them in order.

I bought one the other day. It’s dope! It definitely makes it go quicker. I did a job today and didn’t notice the customers screens (did the walk around from the outside)…they had fancy crank out windows. The screens were on the inside. I didn’t bring the screen washer and wound up doing them by hand.

I use the Aztec I love it, I stack the screens in a few piles then downstream a house wash solution mixed with some shift it (sodium hydroxide) the mix of these will melt off 99% of organic matter such as webs bugs etc. it will also melt light grease and road grime, spray thru all the screens takes about 1 min, then run each screen thru the screen washer until soap or dirt are removed and screen is flushing clean water, then flip screen and repeat and done, quick tap and lean to dry.
I always do it out the front of the house so all the neighbours can see, I quite often get 1-2 neighbours come up and ask for a card or quote and book on the spot.

I actually had to pawn my screen washer when we had a lockdown when covid first hit back when, I was able to buy it back a few weeks ago, missed it very much, it makes my screen cleaning process at least 50% faster and results are higher.

This right here!

Yea I’ll most likely be getting the screen cleaner. Even if it takes me 30 minutes more (But it sounds like the screen cleaner is faster) than just wiping the screen at the house I think it’ll look way more professional and it’ll be more systemized imo

What’s the main reason you went with the ipc eagle 2 over the aztec and xero one?

Get a wfp before you get a screen cleaner

The on/off foot valve.

A WFP setup would be minimum $1,500+; a screen cleaner $375+.
Depends on cash flow.

Once you get used to it and have a practiced system in place it works great for a bunch of screens. If I just have 2 or 3 screens I just use my window mop, tap loose the excess water, then towel dry.

You can get a good intro set up for like $800…

WFP first save your money. Use a hose with a nozzle that has a fan tip.

I have a the Aztec screen cleaner I like it , but I prefer using my power washer . The hose is similar with less flow an less pressure , but it will work fine. Spray them spank them dry with a rag and then wipe the frames clean is the way I do it with a PW , an Id do it the same way with a hose

Yea im getting the wfp first I was looking into the ipc eagle 2 screen washer and would consider getting that one but its a bit pricey for now.

Rag and elbow grease for now

If I were to go back, I would buy a screen cleaner before a WFP. Screen cleaner looks professional, saves your back and shoulders, saves time. I love it. I used to hate when people wanted screens done, now its a breeze, customers always comment on it. I have had many times where they tell me I forgot to put a screen back only to backtrack and say wow I didn’t even see it. WFP are nice, but I rarely use mine, probably because I suck at it but if the windows are dusty I can WFP, if they are dirty I need to clean them trad. You can trad pole what you can WFP for a fraction of the price.
