SCRIM USERS help me out

Hi…
i just got some scim from the U.K. in the post today.
I have NEVER used or seen scrim before.
Does it come in a loose weave and a tight weave??
Should i keep it BIG or cut it down??
I was reading that i should BOIL in in clean water before use… Should I??
ANY suggestions / help would be great!!! THANKS!!!

Keep it big for sure. I can work 10 hours with a single scrim. The thing dries faster than it gets wet. It’s a paradox.

clean the sills of your car/van with it and then wash it a few times ,takes a while before it is broken in

wash it and use a bunch and it will soften up and be easier to use. I keep mine full size. I have heard of guys cutting them down, but I like it full size. It works great and one scrim will last all day.

I would suggest that you watch Mark the window cleaners and Dange’s videos on Scrim

My unger scrim came tight. Washed it a few times. Took it to the local seemstress had had them cut it into 4 pieces. If u cut it yourself it will be ruined and fall apart probably. I didn’t like its size at all. Great now. Also gained them as a client on my commercial rout. Win win

Ive been using hucks for 15 years . Came on this forum read about scrims watch dangerous daves video an switched over .Thats all i use now i cut them in half for route work and use full size on residental . They take a while to break in i was hang drying them but just started putting them in the dryer i was having a problem with lint coming off on the windows. Just started dryng them two days ago so not sure if the lint is still gonna be a problem . They dry really fast though . Not sure why you bought them in the uk though are they different?

The key to a scrim is to beat it up when it is new. You need to break it in. I leave mine the full size and you get used to it real quick. To wash mine, I run them under the faucet for a little while, ring it out and leave it draped over a bucket. I love them. Hucks towels are too small and are a waste of time.

I watched Dange’s videos on youtube. I did the following 5 times before I used mine: Rinse thoroughly in warm water, ring it out, hang dry.
I love using the scrim. No more huck towels!!
Do not cut it down.
that’s my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

Why not cut it down if you dont mind me asking

fanboys feel it will break the scrim spirit… just sayin’ :stuck_out_tongue:

Im lost rivet who are the fan boys. Are you trying to make a funny!

Why not cut it down? Well, I guess I really don’t know. From the research I gathered off youtube mostly, they all said not to cut them down. I don’t recall if any reasons were given.

Oh ok i thought it was for a paticular reason. Maybe the fan boys or something.:rolleyes:I cut mine down had a seamstress do it all i know is no more hucks laying around getting all moldy in the back of my truck.

Pag-Man …Yo !

Boil it in a pot of water for 20 30 minute, once you do that wash it in the washer 2 or 3 times with regular soap ! When done with that dry it in the dryer just by its self (no cloth or towels) or rather all of them , i’m sure you may have more then one ! Then just use it …Cut in half and hem it but it working big is really good too ! Actually I use them both ways and they both work great ! Go big it works fine !

Scrimmer-Dange

Hey Dange should i boil mine down even though i did all of the above already will it make a difference. I guess it cant hurt. What do i tell the wife about this.

Why do you have to tell her anything?

Good grief.

Tell her that you are trying to improve your service… which brings bread to your table.

  • and then apologize, like I’m willing to bet that you always do.

Lol!
