Scrim vs. Surgical rag

New to the site, but have been involved in window cleaning for many years. I have never used a SCRIM? I have always used the lint free blue rags… Am I missing something? Please be so kind to explain ?

I never heard of scrim either untill I got here. Never even tried a microfiber. Scrim is much…MUCH better. Microfibers are awesome too. You know how when you are on the job, and you got like 10 of the blue rags folded up in your bags, get wet, and you go and lay them out on your truck bed to dry? Yeah, you wont be doing that anymore. All you need is 1 scrim. You are good all day long. 2 or 3 microfibers, good all day long. Looks much better too, blue rags everywhere.

Scrim needs to be washed a couple times tho…just like the blue rags. Enjoy the site, and welcome.

There are many posts and threads on scrim (sold at the WCR Store.)

Use the Search feature (top menu bar) to read about them.

If your open minded read on !! This will change the way you do things. You will want to let the towel hang to dry. Let the wind and sun dry it. Get three !! You will not have a lot of washing of towels. I just hang to dry at nite !! At noon time i hang it up and by 1:00 it’s dry !! I just hang on my spod and it’s drying all the time when not is use !! One of the neater things i’ve ran into. I wash it about once week !!it just gets better and better !! Stan

surgical towel vs Scrim…hmmmmm

that’s like saying, the hulk vs mighty mouse.
buy some scrim

I switched from the blue hucks to scrim almost a year ago and will never go back. The blue hucks are great but you waste a lot of time washing them, drying them, folding them, packing them for the gig, hauling enough fresh ones as well as the wet ones as you work, then you have to do it all over again for the next day or pile them up until you get around to washing & drying your whole stash of hucks.

For residential all you need is one scrim per day. I use two on commercial days and rotate them as one may get a little wet from detailing the bottom part of upper panes with the scrim on a pole.

Scrim is very awkward at first but you’ll get used to it in no time at all and recognize the many benefits compared to using hucks.

And simply wash them about once per week and let them air dry. They’re so convenient. Get yourself a 3 pack and see how you like 'em.

Oh yeah, the main thing is…with a huck, once it gets wet it’s done for the day. Not so with scrim. If your scrim gets a little damp it works even better. If it’s gets a little too damp just grab a dry one and let the too damp one dry a bit in no time at all.

As Larry pointed out there are a ton of post and a few videos of scrim on the site. Of course after all is said and done you’ll still need to get at least one and use it for a day or two to form an opinion.

Wow. I’m a microfiber guy, but scrim is officially on my wish list!

Make your wish come true  Its easy:smiley:

Forget the wish list buy some now!!! That way you won’t have to kick yourself for not buying some sooner, when you finally get around to it. Do yourself a favor and get a three pack!
