When searching google do you ever click on the ads on the right and top or do you only click the organic listings?
I’ve never really thought about it, but now that I am, I seem to click on the ads when searching for products not services.
+1
It all depends on what I am searching for - I will click on both. I don’t know if it is common practice, but I read the actual website name, versus the page/content/search title. Just my .02…
For products and services I click 50/50 between organic and ads.
I always look at the organic result descriptions as they offer more information.
never click there ads
Never the ads, and that’s the reason why my only goal is the top of organic listings.
I avoid the ads, I find they tend to be of the “used car salesman” variety, they’ll say anything to get you to go to their site. Type any weird word combination in the search bar and you’ll get ad results. “Find the best deals on blue wax shovels here!” so you know a lot of those ads are rigged to just spew back what you typed even if it makes no sense.
Don’t trust them. Which means I’m probably passing over real, actually useful stuff. But I’ll take the organics over the paid ads any day. Besides, I’m usually on Google looking for information, not a sales pitch.
There are probably still plenty of sites in the organic results that are of dubious quality (as far as useful search results go) but at least you get a fair mix of sites and have a better chance of landing on a real and useful result.
Do I “never” click them? No, now and then I’ll give them a shot. But 99% of the time, no.
Your goal is wise.
wait… I just checked, you are already on page 1 for katy texas window cleaning right? and page 2 for Houston window cleanining.
I am about 60/40
I click paid ads about 40%. I click less and less because of my
experiences with AdWords. I find myself cutting and pasting the web
address so they wont get a click charge…
weird, I know
I love clicking on pay per click ads. i have an ip rotater, so they get charged everytime i click…
LOL. I love it. I only do that with large companies though. Like when I’m looking for something and I see a paid listing that can’t possibly have the thing I’m looking for. You see this alot with companies like Target. I swear they must be bidding on every word in the dictionary. So when I see it I will keep rotating and then click off of two computers. But only when I’m really bored.
You gotta send me that software!!! Is that the one that gives you a static IP? Or does it cloak your IP?
