SEO Question.... Window Cleaner or Window Washer?

Do you think a prospect is more likely to search for service using Window Cleaner(ing) or Window Washer(ing)?

I would say it would matter what part of the country your in. I would say in general “window wash(ing)” is searched more.

I’m taking @WndwClnr 's advice and doing both on my searchable ads, and leaning towards building my website up with both as well. It might look a little strange, but if it gets me a bigger net to catch the fishies then why not?

It depends, I think on your area and the vernacular. Like soda or pop or cola,
bag or sack. When I do a simple google search for window washer, I get zero local results. With window cleaner, everybody shows up.

So if you added “washer” to your SEO you’d be the only one who popped up if someone did search for it?

You can do some keyword research and find out for yourself for sure:

  1. Signup for Google Adwords
  2. Login to your account and click the “Keyword Planner” button
  3. Set your preferences (Location mostly) and search - compare how often the two were searched in the last 12 months.

I know in most places in the UK “Window Washer” is hardly searched at all, so many ppl use “Window Cleaning” as their main keyword - - but “Window Cleaner” is searched 3x more often!

This thread reminds me of a conversation I had with someone at the Department of Revenue. In the course of answering my question, the guy gives other information that I knew was wrong. About two minutes after I hung up he called me back to say “Ma’am you were right. I didn’t realize window cleaning and window washing are the same thing.” :smirk:

My last client wanted window washing services so I was glad to be a window washer. She recently moved to Alaska from Oklahoma. She wants me to come back in the spring for another window washing session. Feels real good to be getting traction, especially since she was a referral.

If your title of your site is Window Cleaner, put Window Washer in the first sentence.

Google’s AI is intelligent enough to interchange the words “cleaning” and “washing” as well as “cleaner” and “washer”. It gets more robust every iteration. I cannot speak for Bing or Yahoo’s engines. But, since Google is the big man on campus, it generally leads the way for all the others in how search is done.

And, no, I don’t work for Google. I am Google Certified, however.

Google is getting good at using synonyms. But actual keywords do still carry weight so it doesnt hurt to throw cleaner and washer in there once in a while
