Lately, every SM lead that i get to schedule when i first call them (the only way you can ever get the job) will cancel their appointment later in the day.:mad::mad::mad:
Im assuming once i get off the phone with them, some other low baller that got the lead calls them and tells them they will do it for 30% of my price, so the customer feels that i was trying to rip them off and calls to cancel…:mad:
does this happen with anyone else…
Ive actually done alright with service magic in the past, but lately these people have been really ****ing me off…:mad::mad::mad::mad:
SM customers are generally super cheap/dumb(trying to tell me their 3000 sq. ft. house has 8 windows)
We just started using SM about 4 weeks ago. Gutter cleaning and covers only. So far we have had only 3 leads. Closed 2 of them. One for a clean out the other for covers. I limited the territory to start so we could get a feel for the quality of leads and closing rate. We have not added window cleaning because I am worried about too many tire kickers. So far so good with the gutters. We have the leads texted to the phone and try to respond and close as quickly as possible.
Maybe consider narrowing down your service area to the best area you have or your sweet spot to limit the number of leads and see how that works out.
No offense to the SM lovers out there, but I son’t see the benefit in my area. I know a guy in a town 45 min. away and all he had were problems like you described.
No thanks, I’ll keep my small phone bk adds and send out mailers. Not looking for this type of madness.
The guy I was talking about finely dropped them. He still gets calls though!?!
Bruce, where are you located, ive seen you mention you are from southern CA
Noble George, it seems like the good leads come in waves. Im just on a cold streak right now, im happy if i land 1 out of every 3-4. i figure i pay about $40-50 for every new customer anyway…
Jeremiah, nothing makes me angry like a customer canceling the evening before their appointment…
Its weird, we have definitely had our ups and downs with service magic over the years. Last year was stellar, this year is mediocre. 2 Years ago it was straight up horrible…
I hear ya, really I do. Hang in there man. Personally, I don’t see the headache worth it with SM. What other ways have do you try to get leads? Have you considered offering Quarterly to current customers? That will at least keep you constantly in the areas you are already working in.
Not in any way trying to be condescending here. I am just trying to understand the market your in…
I am glad your so honest Chris, really I am. I was under the impression that SM was killer good for you guys. But now I get it, there is no telling what your gonna get.
SM has been terrible lately everytime I’m about to quit I’ll land 2 or 3 in a row right now, I’m 0-5 over the last 3 or 4 days which means I’m about to place it rest mode. I’m sure I’ll land the next two and forget my anger. Maybe it’s a secret SM ploy…
You ain’t kidding, 3-4 times a week after repeatedly telling them “not interested” last year. The rep started getting snippy with me because I wouldn’t start service, basically telling me that my business would fail if I didn’t sign up. After telling him to go f himself the calls finally subsided a bit. It was absolutely ridiculous.
I still get the occasional call from a different rep, so now I pretty much don’t answer anything from the 303 area code.
