"Services" Poised for growth

I saw an article in this months Entrepreneur Magazine called “10 sectors poised for growth”

It basically listed 10 types of jobs that will do better than well this year. The #1 thing was services…

That made me happy! < – Ya know because Window Cleaning is a service.

I had this discussion last year with another window cleaner in my territory. He was asking me if I thought a downturn in the economy would affect our industry. Even without the economy the way it is now, North America is really becoming a service oriented society. More and more manufacturing is going overseas so service industry is all that is left in a big way.

And of course, the better service you provide, the greater chance of lasting over the long haul.

I either read or heard that most service businesses would do well through the poor economy, because less people will be traveling and going places spending money. And will instead be spending money on their homes for the simple fact they will be spending more time at home and to increase the homes value. I guess to help off-set the decrease in value the down economy has caused.

I try and stick with what works. I think companies that start offering too many services can implode on themselves. I’ll stick with 3 to 5 max with window cleaning being the bread an butter. Chris I remember at one time you mentioned looking into the solar power thing. I really think that is going to be the way to get ahead in the future. I would love to be 100% off the grid. When the time comes and I can do it, I’m going for it. If for nothing else I want my computer to have power. lol.

You want your computer to have power when there will be no more internet? That’s pretty funny, either it’s all coming down and there will be no internet or you’ll be off the grid energy wise yet still connected to it via computer.

Just for the record though I would love to be on 100% solar power, with my own well, a bit of land, a few barn yard animals and a kick butt garden. I love being self sufficient, that’s why I went into business as a window cleaner.

Thanks for the info Chris! With all the doom and gloom predictions it’s nice to see some positive ones. I just wish I had started my website sooner. It’s been a great source of work so far.
