Hello Window Cleaners,
My Name is Greg Garcia, a professional window cleaner and I am here to answer any and all questions concerning Sheer Glass Water Stain Remover. After 35 years of window cleaning and doing many types of jobs from homes to high rises it is my goal to pass on my knowledge and products to make your job easier. For those who have never heard of Sheer Glass it is now sold at Window Cleaning Resource and is a brand new non acid glass stain remover. Try some on windows that nobody has ever cleaned with harsh chemicals and you’ll see it remove years of stain and leave a silky smooth finish behind. Thanks for reading!
Hey Greg. I got some from your website before WCR took it on. I tried it last week on some glass with pretty nasty screen burn. It did ok, but not great. Any suggestions?
Are we talking metal screens ? I did some mirrored chrome windows with rust and paint oxidation stains and they were tuff but it all came off and without the buffer. For really tuff stain i use a variable speed buffer on lowest speed and it works.
I see some nasty screen burn from time to time here, mostly on older storm windows. My experience is that screen burn can go from staining to actual glass surface damage. Usually from metal screens too. I haven’t had any luck with anything I’ve tried so far. Haven’t tried sheer gllass on this type of damage yet. problem is for an old storm pane it would only cost around $35-40 to replace it at the glass shop so I waste too much time on these jobs.

danwagner what method did you try? Steel wool, white pad? Was there anyother stain remover in your kit that does a better job on this type of damage?
What is the coverage? How many Square Feet of glass will a gallon clean? It seems a bit pricey
Metal screens. Beautiful View first I used steel wool alone, then Sheer Glass on a white towel. Can’t recall if I used the two together. Collectively they got 90-100% of the spotting off. It was still pretty intensive, though.
From what I understand it might have been better to apply Sheer Glass with steel wool in this case. Either way, how does it compare to other products on this type and level of staining/damage?
I’ve used Sani Scrub for years. Not saying it’s the best, but it usually does the trick. I should make a side by side comparison.
Ya, that’d be great.
I would say a 16 oz bottle should cover 400 - 500 square feet and a gallon is 8 X that much. It will vary from job to job as some come clean in 1 try and some may have to be buffed out. If you try to compare it with anything you may find something that works faster but is it safe for ropes if your hanging 50 stories of the ground. My rule is that I use no acids period of any kind on glass because they can do more damage than good. Acid and ropes = DEATH. If Sheer Glass comes in contact with ropes it can be washed with a mild degreaser soap like Dawn. As far as cost it does have cerium oxide in it which drives the cost up. Sheer Glass was originally formulated my me for safety reasons and was re-engineered by a chemist and engineer to work better. Do not expect any windows that have been acid washed to be easy to clean.
I havent found any non acid products that work very well. Were can I find sheer glass in so cal. did you also say it seals the glass also
