Great advice Steve! Another thing I always do… If I ever stop somewhere and leave my truck unattended, I check to make sure the straps are still secure before driving off. You never know if one of the straps became a little loose while you were driving from hitting a bump in the road. Or if someone was trying to be funny and loosened one of the straps while your were away from your vehicle.

Hi. It should be ok but not a ladder i would want to carry up there long term. I would suggest the extendable step ladder like the little giant ones. They are so versatile and fold down to be haulable. Werner makes one. Just an idea?
I’m thinking of taking a sawzall to mine and taking it to the scrap yard! I think that every time I set it up…I may enact a “if I can’t reach it from a 24 footer, I ain’t doin it” policy.
Not to hijack the thread, but have you found a LIGHTER weight 32’ by any chance?
Yeah i agree. I only take out the 32’ ladder if i really need it. Cause they are really heavy. Very stable cause they are wider than 26 footers. Get smaller ladders that are adjustable and lighter IMHO
Thanks everyone. I’d much rather a 24ft than a 32ft as well. Problem is the Job I got coming up requires it, and I have no WFP system. Hence my issues. Thanks again
Walshscleaningservice, I have to add my +1 on the Buick. Although it might make you a little too popular if you’ll be using it in your volunteer work, as well
I wish it were true that we could get away without having 32 footers. In my neck of the woods there are houses where I have to use my 32 just to get in position to reach a window with my WFP! No joke. It doesn’t happen much, but you gotta have one, unfortunately.

I started out with a VW Rabbit. My advice. Make sure the rack is bolted/screwed into the vehicle or “rails” with quality bolts/screws - spend a couple of dollars and get the heat treated ones. Avoid the $60 rack that is held to the roof by nylon straps. Also, consider putting some sort of guide on the rack that the ladder will sit within - like two bolts put through the rack spaced just wider than the ladder itself. This will keep the ladder from sliding off the rack (left to right) while going down the interstate.
