Small Sill Vaccum?

Hey guys:

I was wondering if anyone knows of a great compact vac to help clean sills? I love the red sill brush sold here at WCR and would highly recommend buying one…it works amazing BTW…but I can use a more portable vacuum that won’t require me to lug my heavy Mastercraft around when vacuuming is a must. Any suggestions would be appreciated!..Thanks…

This is what I use

but its very focused on track cleaning, and my set up being i don’t wear a belt. 90% of the windows i clean have very thin aluminum tracks this is the only vacuum i can find this fits into the tracks.

This one would work for you…cheap and small, so you don’t have to drag the larger one you have around

Stanley 1 gal Poly Wet/Dry Vacuum, 8100101A: Appliances : Walmart.com.

Dyson handheld. It is expensive, yes, but it is extremely quiet compared to others, sucks well, and appears to be pretty darn durable. Been using the same one for a coule years now without any problems.

I like the small hand held dewalt cordless.

I just spent a 1/2 hr trying to retreive a picture I took for SteveWCS belt set up thread so I’m not going to try that or a link here.

I have a Black @ Decker 18v Single Source “Dirt Devil” type like Steve076 shows with an extra battery so to charge one and still use the vac.
It works well.
I also have a canister vac like SteveWCS shows. It also works well also.
One tip, I take what ever I can find-plastic semi ridged tubing and flatten it a bit and glue it into then vac end. Now you can get in any narrow track. When the tube wears down, glue in a new piece.

Great tip Dale.

de.fuller You’ve got all the answers.

This is the one I like Black-Decker-Flex-Cordless-Mini-Canister-Hand-Vac.

Battery life is great and I like hose.

I’m not a snob though, I just bask in my own warm glow.
Also try Jared’s B@D Flex. Nice little vac.
Anyone that would like to try my tip, PM me an address and I’ll send you one. I have a shit pot full of them.

looks very nice…thanks everyone… done with the boat anchor!

I just picked this one up the other day…

Looks like it might have been a great decision

How good does it suck after using it on 4-5-6-10 windows?

Thank you for this info. I just did a job today that required a vacuum for the tracks and sills.

That Walmart vacuum looks pretty neat! Keep those recommendations coming!

Milwaukee wet dry portable 18v. Battery life is good for a couple of houses. Will pull a 10 penny nail out of the track but it does sound like a f-16 but battery life and the ability to hold it in one hand and hit high up places make it a must have. on home depot for $100. I own a bunch of tools that run off these batteries so it just made sense. Great for construction and make ready where you might not have electrical on site.

Wow. Right on! Vacuuming on a construction site might require a battery powered vacuum!

Still in box  i’ll be using it next week.

I bet it will do a day’s work fine… My thoughts anyway.

JaredAI could say better than me. As it’s the one he likes the best.

cheers john

It sucks. I’ve use it on several houses before recharging it. It has a removable filter than you can take out and bang on the curb. You’ll notice when it’s losing power, but the nice thing about that model is you can use it while plugged in. So if you lose power, plug it in and keep going.

I did a house out on the reservation and sucked up a ton of dirt and now mine is pretty loud. I think I just need to wash out the filter and make sure I got all that dirt out of it.

But I love the fact that the power button is right there by the handle, the hose is handy, and the attachments are useful.

I think the Milwaukee (or others) that have removable batteries would be a good choice too.

I don’t think you really have to worry about how noisy it is, if the homeowner hears you f16’ing through their house, they’ll know you’re working. Unless they have a baby sleeping…

So I just bought this 2.5 gal wet/dry Shop Vac. I was able to get what they call micro tools for it. Micro tips for cleaning in very small spots. Should work well for tracks.
I already have the cordless Black and Decker. It folds closed. I put a strap on it and throw it over my neck and shoulder so it is easy to carry up a ladder. I use it primarily for getting the bugs out of light fixtures. It takes me about 30 seconds to vac a light fixture and I clean about 100+ lights at this one job, so you do the math on how long it lasts. I can’t count that high.

found this: also note in the comments below someone found away to purchase replacement battery’s “Batteries Plus Bulbs” if needed and re-rig it. hope you find it helpful!

I’m gonna pull the trigger on this one…thanks
