So what are you guys doing for the winter?

Lots and lots of snowplowing.

That’s exactly what he’s doing. Here’s a post about accounting software, from another forum I read this morning…

"We use ACT This program works well for us.

These two companies do a great job with Mold Removal, Mold Remediation, Mold Testing, Mold Inspection, Mold Abatement, Mold Cleanup, Window Cleaning, Gutter Cleaning, Power Washing, Air Duct Cleaning, Duct Cleaning, Dryer Vent Cleaning, House Cleaning, Carpet Cleaning, Floor Waxing, Chimney Cleaning in New Jersey "

(Followed by two links to the site.)

He’s a local guy, I won’t blow up his spot, but he uses some wacky marketing techniques around here. Example - he’s based in Freehold, but if you Google him he has a “location” in each and every nice town in Central Jersey… usually the address is a train station or municipal building. I noticed this when i first started my biz… thought Absolutely Spotless was another Fish type franchise til I did my research. Peeping Tom Window Cleaning does this too, locally.

Not only does Google pick up on this, which hurts his SEO, but I’m sure his prospective clientele aren’t morons either. It doesn’t bother me one bit though because #1 - I really don’t pay attention to my competition at all #2 - I still get the calls for window cleaning, most notably yesterday… a few blocks from his “home office”, which is technically south of my standard service area and #3 - I still rank higher on an organic Google search.

Not hating at all, to each their own and I’m doing just fine either way, just saying though

LOL< what a dumb name for your company. I am guilty of it too though. In the beginning (for about 4 months) I had cards done and proudly walked around calling my company “Bucket Bums” Long long time ago!! His name may get some laughs but I guarantee it isn’t good for the long term…

Actually, they’ve been around forever and a day lol… I see them all the time in my old neighborhood… and have yet to see them cleaning windows. usually they’re cutting grass or raking leaves and what not

One of the ‘locations’ is a little gas station, Exxon Holmdel Vilage. That’s awesome.

Eh, to each their own… I just thought it was funny that I had literally just read the similar post a few minutes earlier.

I am sure that changes from where you are located. We do roof and rain gutter work.

You’re Kidding? Someone named their co. Peeping Tom Window Cleaning? LOL:rolleyes:

I…I…will be doing squat for window cleaning…burned the heck out!!!

Thad … your a man after my own heart.

You need to bring the little missus down and experience some Louisiana inshore fishing.
Specks, reds, flounder until your arms fall off!

There has been some talk of doing a charter trip right before the New Orleans Event, but it’s still in the ‘just talking about it’ phase so far.

I was in the Bayou 2 years ago during some missions work and could only imagine what species are actually down there.

I was out bowfishing today with a buddy and he told me he wanted to take a trip down to lousianna and I could’t help remembering all the nutrarats and spiders the size of watermelons when were out in the boat. Not to memetion the aligators. Either way I love the south and Can’t wait to visit again.

I thikn the NOLA event might be my first large tax write off of 2011.

on days that will allow it…cleaning windows!

Should dip into the 40s, but that’s way better than single digits!

I have been to Tenn twice (Nashville both times, great place btw!). I was told when I was there that if they actually get any snow, it shuts the town down.

I went in Feb. and the grass was green. I would take that all day over Wisconsin.

It snowed a few years ago when the IWCA convention was in Nashville and I was driving around town w/ a few other window cleaners (Shawn Gavin, Craig Aldrich, and Marc King) and we saw a ton of people in the ditch. It was what we would have called a light dusting. The funniest part of that morning was Craig in his boat shoes out in the snow.

X-Mas light installation for the holidays, i haven’t really pushed it hard yet and its super profitable. I didnt realize there was such a demand for it

Our winter will basically be spent preparing for the spring season. Ive said this a few times on this forum but I strongly believe

“the amount of time in the winter you prepare for your spring season is directly correlated with how much you make in the spring”

Tweaking the website, updating policies and procedures, budgeting, equipment maintenance… we are doing it all.

Now w/ my WCRA membership <a href=“http://shopwindowcleaner.com/wcra-membership.html?a_aid=mistersqueegee&a_bid=c8e9a859” target=“_top”><img src=“http://www.shopwindowcleaner.com/affiliate/accounts/default1/banners/wcra-affiliate-1.jpg” alt=“” title=“” width=“150” height=“159” /></a><img style=“border:0” src=“http://www.shopwindowcleaner.com/affiliate/scripts/imp.php?a_aid=mistersqueegee&a_bid=c8e9a859” width=“1” height=“1” alt=“” /> I’ll have all the tools I need to get a head start on the business improvements I needed to do this winter. Thanks guys!

Maybe think about heading down to St. Pete Beach Florida for the IWCA Convention & Trade Show. We have just sold out the trade Show floor and have at least 5 new vendors on the floor this year that are there to help you grow your business.

This year the sessions are focused on safety, use the following link IWCA: The International Window Cleaning Association | Window Cleaning Information | to take a look at all of the sessions we are offering this year.

If you have never been to the IWCA Convention before the Scholarship is still open, we are taking applications until Dec. 15th, the link to sign up for that is IWCA: The International Window Cleaning Association | Window Cleaning Information |.

If you have any questions on the convention you can get information on the IWCA web site at IWCA: The International Window Cleaning Association | Window Cleaning Information | or give headquarters a call and someone will be able to help you out. I can think of worse places to be than the beach in February.

Hope to see you there!
