Yeah I hear you. The back office stuff is kicking my butt now. I dont have a garage either. I’ll be able to include it but, only on a case by case basis. Its not something I’m going to promote until I have a separate crew that are screen experts…if i go that direction.
Currently I just refer a guy called “The Screen Doctor” His prices are decent but have a very long list of upsells and even the basic prices vary alot by type of window so its not something I can bid 10% over his price…To keep my customer happy its easier to just refer it out.Though if I could have 1 guy busy fulltime doing screens I would that as well as install 5k gutters.
In my area, the window replacement companies do the rescreening…but i get asked all the time who does it, so I tell them I do…I charge $25 per screen but raising rates, one guy charges around $50…$15 per screen and $35 pickup and delivery fee…I do the work on a rainy day or save up a few and spend an hour or so…fairly easy money.
my excuse would be it would bore the crap out of me and be a pain in the butt to boot, besides have enough of services if they want that they can call Lowes
If screens are such a pain then why not up the price and make it worth your time? I hate re-screening to tell you the truth, but for every job their is a price
Do You have an easy method to replace the latches without pulling up all the spline? I was finishing a job today and realize I forgot to put the pull tabs on one, I managed to pull up just enough spline where I wanted the tab to be and slip it in and press the spline back in but it was a bit of a pain, but the screen came out looking good. But if there is an easier method I’d love to hear about it.
