Soap Wars?

Without having another soap wars thread I was thinking we could get everyone to share what’s in their water? What’s your solution to dirty windows? Just your average everyday mixture for the busy season with ideal weather for your area, and tell us one reason you love your solution.

I’ll start…
I use a GG4/Ecover mix because it repels dirt keeping the shine almost double what I used to use.

Dawn and glass glem and maybe some winsol in hot humid sunny weather

I have been using the Pill from Unger with a touch of dishwasher soap so that I can see what I need to squeegee off. I am new to the business and haven’t tried anything else. I can’t say I am completely satisfied with it as I sometimes seem to have a film left behind, but haven’t ruled out that it could be the result of something else or something I am doing wrong. Would like to know if anyone else has used the Pill and had similar issues or found something else they like much better

This is why I wanted this discussion, help some new guys with finding a good solution for them to use or try out.

Just switched to 1/4 oz gg4 + ecover. I love ecover since it doesn’t dry my hands like dawn did.

Straight Ecover is my “everyday soap.” I’ll bust out the TSP for certain jobs, i.e. hardened grease on the windows. I used to love Ace Hardware 100% ammonia for old pure glass windows, but I’ve kicked it to the curb to save my lungs… plus, I don’t want the customers to know me as “the ammonia guy.”

Bronze wool is my favorite soap additive… as in “ecover with a dash of bronze wool.”

Dawn and I just purchase some Ecover

When I used to use Dawn, I found that any little spots you missed dried to the window and were hard to remove with a dry huck. Dish soaps have a solvent in them to keep the fatty acids fluid (Dawn has alcohol in it, Palmolive has ammonia). So at the end of the job, I walked around the house with a few hucks and a bottle of rubbing alcohol. A little dab of alcohol on the rag will lift away any soap spots.

That’s why I like the ecover, though. Way less detailing and fixing spots after the sun bakes the windows.

GG4/Ecover mix. Works great!

1.5oz Ecover with .5oz gg4 per 3 gallons. Good glide in all levels of humidity. Hardly any “crying” and easy clean up with drips.

Curious about the new ‘Glide’ stuff from Enviro Bio Cleaner

Dawn or Ecover…

I heard this works well also Waxie Liquid Squeegee - New Products - Extras / Add Ons.

I have been using Oates Laboratories™ - Product Display for around 10 years just a squirt in my bucket.
Recently i started to add a few cap fulls of Oates Laboratories™ - Product Display with my standard mix.

I have never had any problems with spots or drips drying and being hard to buff out.

GG4 so forgiving, and does an amazing job.

I want to tell you my secret solution so bad but I’m afraid everyone will hate on me. However my shit works so bad ass. I am completely amazed at how clean and streak free the glass is and when I’m done these windows shine like a diamond in a goats ass.

Oh c’mon share the secret formula

Please tell us…

That’s a lot of ass.

Is it windex? If it’s windex, then yes, people will hate on you.

Lol. Hell no. I’ve been doing this too long for windex. In fact I’ve never used the stuff. Sheesh. I’ve been cleaning windows part time off and on since 2005. I’ve used lots of stuff but then I started mixing things up all glass products and then one day BOOM! This shit works! My customers are always wow’d by the results.

So other than it leaving windows super shiny, what are the other qualities of your mix?
