Just looking for some of your insight and thoughts, Thanks ahead of time.
My wife has an (offer/in the process of a offer) to transfer to one of her companies offices in Cali, Irvine/OC. I have yet to visit but am not keen on the idea of moving, although I am not a fan of Dallas for the long term (so far 6 years), I deal with it, cost of living here is lower compared to Cali, pay can be good, housing market is very good, no state income tax, property taxes are higher, but the houses are much cheaper. Don’t get me wrong the summers can be horrible as well as traffic can be bad depending on where you live, but again I deal with it.
I have googled some O/C - W/C sites with pricing listed, as well as cr@iglist ads, and looked at zillow to get an idea of housing (houses for sale vs. foreclosure and certain areas and they are close to equal in number). Some of the prices I have seen on the W/C sites are equal to lower then what some charge here in Dallas, and housing in Cali is like double if not more to what you find here, add the extra $1.00-$1.50+ per gallon for gas, state income tax etc, It is a big roadblock for me to get around.
So how do you do make it work, and what are the pros as well as any more cons to working in your area?
