In Florida solar power is restricted by law. Yeah, go figure. Almost no wonder why a manager of one of the local solar companies down the street doesn’t even have solar power at his house! Hopefully the monopoly law will change in the near future.
Does anyone else have such a monopoly law towards alternative energy in their state?
It makes it so that there isn’t even the opportunity to add this valuable service to my customers - who extreme rare few even have solar panels because of it.
I’ve read a few other posts on minimum charge, etc. - Really? It has to make financial sense to what is being saved in electric cost to maintain the solar panels per year (6 month cleaning) or the POTENTIAL CUSTOMER will just brush you off.
Anyway, monopolies in consumer goods and services annoy the crap out of me for some reason.
No such restrictions here in Cali. We are set for another boom as Cali has made a goal to increase renewable clean energy by an additional 10% of energy use.
What I am saying is if the customer spends more on cleaning the panels than he is saving in energy cost per year he will not be so inclined to use the service. As a business to come out - be it plumber, electrician, carpenter, what have you - there usually is a minimum that makes sense to stay in business. Having a window cleaning account and adding on solar panel cleaning while your there makes financial sense to the home owner. How many people do solar panel cleaning as the only service offered? Say you are saving $1500 per year with solar power. How much to justify adding cleaning to the cost of acquiring solar before it doesn’t make sense for the savings? As an add on service it makes sense for the cleaner and customer. As a sole service it doesn’t seem to make sense to the customer in order for the cleaner to stay in business IMO.
